Been to Gdansk about 5 times this year already (my girlfriend is there).

The Old Town of Gdansk is lovely and shouldn't be missed. Gdansk is part of the Tri City area, the other two cities being Gdynia and Sopot.

I would thoroughly recommend seeing both if you have the time. Sopot is a more upmarket seaside resort. It is famous for it's wooden pier and numerous music festivals. It has a very luxurious hotel based right on the beach (Grand Hotel).

Gdynia is the lesser known of the three yet also has plenty to offer. It's located between the sea and the Tri City National Park. The wharf is worth a visit and also a trip to Orlowo beach.

About 45 mins from Gdynia is the Hel Peninsula. Look it up on google. If you're looking for something a bit different then take a drive down the peninsula.

Going to Gdansk at Easter (Saturday to Tuesday), but have been told that a lot of bars/ restaurans/ shops will be closed during this period. Is this the case?

I can understand a few being closed, but are the city center based places the same?

Also been told that we may have buckets of water thrown over us. What's that all about?
