Hi,
we want to go to Chania for two weeks in October. Has anyone stayed at the Aegan Palace, the Asterion in Gerani or the Casa Delfino in Chania ? What is Gerani like ? Thanks.

The people were very friendly and if all you want is a quiet holiday, it's probably ideal - we went 1st 2 weeks of October 2004 although we only spent 4 nights in Gerani.
thanks for your reply, Gerani sounds alright to me. We will have to go into Chania quite frequently and in Chania itself, we couldn't find anything package-wise for the time we want to go. What do you mean by the beach is lousy ? Too many pebbles or what ? I believe the bus service to the villages along the coast is quite frequent - if you can believe what the Ktel homepage says ?
Thanks

Bus service is great - about every 30 minutes and I think the last one left Chania at about 11.30 pm - we certainly went in and ate on one evening using the bus. Portes in Chania is recommended as is Idonissos in Gerani itself (on the main road) - Greek food with a twist!
If you fancy overnighting in Hania - I can recommend the neli, right alongside the cathedral.
thanks a lot for your info but I might just as well have not bothered asking about Gerani! We had booked two weeks at the Aegan Palace starting on Wednesday. Last Tuesday, my other half received a phone call from our tour operator saying, the hotel is closing for the winter on Oct. 21. We have booked until the 25th and the brochure stated availability until Oct. 31. They offered us the Santa Marina at Ag. Marina as an alternative for the last four days and maybe we can even stay there for the whole two weeks. I should hope we can go there for the duration as I don't fancy packing to go to another hotel, only to fly home four days later. Has this happened to anyone before ? I wonder if the place isn't simply overbooked only it seems unlikely in October ? It was difficult enough to find a flight during that time with there being autumn holidays over here in Germany.
