We were in Kusadasi two years ago and we used the dolmus to Selcuk. This will drop you by some taxis outside Ephesus. The taxis, at a cost of course, will take you to Marys House and the caves of the seven sleepers and then drop you at the entrance. When you've walked through Ephesus I believe you can take a dolmus into Selcuk whereby there is a castle to visit.

Just to say that the castle in Selcuk is currently closed - apparently one of the walls collapsed and it has been closed for safety reasons. The Ephesus museum in Selcuk is still open though.
