The Government of Goa has decided to build an international quality 18 hole golf course and i thought how about putting up a driving range.
Would anyone with golfing experience give me some ideas if this would be feasible in Goa ? What would I need etc. Would you as a tourist want to spend your time at a driving range ?
Anyone with any experience. Advice would be much appreciated .
P.S: Mods this is not an advertisement !
Regards
Ambert,
Where is it going to be - North or South? I know many years ago they wanted to build one in North Goa to attract the Japanese but, as you know, this never happened.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Its going to be in the north and close to Calangute. The land needed for the project itself runs into hundreds of thousands of pounds and i feel its viable only in the north.
Regards
I will ask my golfing pals what they expect from a driving range.
I know the 19th hole is on the top of the list

dont open a golfing range, i love golf but Goa needs the water for human consumption not a driving range, nor a golf course. scotland is the only place in the world to play golf
To answer your question Goadentist.
I have look all over the internet for some information about a course in North Goa but all I can come up with is this
Looked up the word - nascent - just beginnining to be.
With regards to driving ranges - this afternoon we went to look at a couple of golf courses near to us and found that they both had driving ranges within the golf course premises - looks like they were built by the club.

Hi Narial
I had to delete the text and provide a link as other websites can not be copied without their permission.

I would have thought it was too hot anyway and as has already been said, the water is needed elsewhere.
No, Non, Nein!
He was asking about a "Driving Range not an 18 hole golf course.
Not much water required on plastric turf.
the driving ranges i used have plastic mats that you hit the ball off and they land on grass. keep the water for our hangovers
Lots of ideas as to saving water. Let me assure you that the driving range i propose has " no greens ". Its an indoor range. Rubber mats thats all we are going to use .
Save water , save Goa !

Good man Ambert, anyway Golf is just a waste of a good walk
think on girls --- look at all the shopping you can be doing when they are out on the driving range --- sounds perfect!!
Hmm........ is this what Goa really needs? Mind you next progression is loads of golf courses then more private apartments.
My love for golf has prompted me to look at setting up a driving range. I want to market it more for the locals than the tourists. If the proposed golf course being built by the Government does happen somebody will have to teach the people the game !

However, you're right on a tecnicality only. I still think the idea of golf of any description in Goa is a bummer. Goa needs aspiring, middle managemant types in Pringle jumpers like it needs a hole in the head. It's just not what Goa is about.
Chilling, ambience, sunsets, food, wonderful people, beaches, shacks, smells; yes - bring it on. But golf... golf!....pleeease!

Amen brother!! The first time I see someone taking their clubs to Goa with them, then I know the dream really has died
Except for when I, and then, and there was the time, aw forget it.
I have just had this vision of a dozen golfing nuts sitting around a bar talking golf stories, handicaps, the latest sand wedge, hole-in-one, my wife doesn't understand.
My God Ambert do not do it
