what a great idea - if only our own government had the balls to stop those on any form of benefits from travelling outside the country on holidays.

So kicking out Fiona Mackeown when her visa expires while her daughters murder is still being "investigated" will help? It will certainly stop her from kicking up a fuss about the corrupt officials won't it? Then he blames everyone but Indians on the illegallities, drug smuggling via the airport is the problem of the Central Industrial Security Force not the corrupt State Police? What planet is this man on???@

It's official....no place should be open after midnight. I really can't see this being permanent...what about those that have already paid for all night "licences". Looks like the hotel bars are going to be raking it in, that should keep the managers happy.

Police are already rounding up local lads found roaming at night, if caught with foreign girls they'll be in big trouble.

Last drinks by 11pm!!!

I have to rush to get out and eat by 7.30 so I can have a relaxing evening.... sometimes I wouldn't get out of the hotel till 8.30 9 ish.

This is supposed to be a holiday?

Hmmmm... looking less appealing by the day... however things may be different in the South.

According to todays paper the south is included in all of this, it mentioned Colva police acting upon the Ministers instructions!!
Titos Lane was LATE as usual last night so it doesn't appear to have taken effect down there, I reckon they'll hit this week-end (Easter - when lots of domestic tourists are here) and the places are packed! Not sure of the situation on the beaches last night, maybe they're concentrating all their efforts on the shacks for now??
GFF xx

Article ‘Goa is going down the drain '

Very interesting articles. It seems now that the truth about the seedy side of things in Goa is at last getting an airing, and not before time. None of this is news of course, to any of us who have been visiting for a long time. Too often on this forum, to talk of these things, was to be invited to holiday elsewhere, by some posters who either were not aware of how bad things were, or simply wished to bury their heads in the sand over the true state of affairs. I'm afraid it's all out in the open now. What will be the effect on tourism numbers? nobody can say for sure but I think next season will be worse than this one and the stayaways will be the ones that were thinking of Goa as a destination but will undoubtedly have second thoughts now, and who can blame them Alan

"What will be the effect on tourism numbers?"

Well it will be interesting to see if they change visa requirements.... if they do it will put a lot of people off. But I imagine it wont put any regular charter 'packagers'. Although I would imagine another round of bureaucratic fiasco will occur at the start of next season causing confusion, delays etc... If it's going to be quiet I maybe will take a trip in Nov'. I'll be keeping a close eye on any developments of the ensuing chaos anyway.

as i quoted on another thread a few days ago the Herald stated that they are considering refusing visas to anyone with a criminal record and also tightening up the visas, and i think this meant reducing the length of the visa, there is a lot of talk of stopping 6mth visas in articles but whether this will happen?? who knows...everything is uncertain. :(
