Well I am glad people have made up their mind to go to Thailand perhaps they will now log on to the Thailand site and give us a bit of peace.

Here we go again, it seems that anyone who dares to say anyting critical of Goa or it's wonderfull infrastructure, or thinks about looking elsewhere, is immediatley asked to leave the Goa discussion group. When I read some of the rose tinted glasses reports, I sometimes think I've been visiting a different Goa these past twenty years or so. Alan

Suck Seed people are entitled to post in the Goa forum if they so wish, and with all due respect have been posting for a lot longer than you!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, thats all it is and this is a DISCUSSION forum after all.
I am sure if it comes to the time when people want to visit Thailand they will post in the Thai forum for advise and help, much in the same way that many people started posting in the Goa forum, and have made many life long friends by doing that.

I can accept criticism of Goa because I know that it does have it's faults. But if I wanted to know all about Thailand then I would log on to another site and not expect to have a separate discussion about the place on a Goa site. If people don't like Goa for what ever reason fine by me, I am however genuinely interested in what people have to say. But keep to the point please.

I can understand what it is being said here from both sides, and i am probably the first to admit that it has changed. But i feel very "protective" towards Goa, and it is still my bit of "paradise"! Hey someone has to stick up for the place!! :que :tup

Suckseed - the whole point is that we are all Goan fans but many of us haven't been to Thailand. It's not unreasonable to expect an exchange of views on the difference between Goa and Thailand on a Goan site.

Would somebody get on their high horse if we discussed Thailand v Goa on a Thai site? Where do we discuss it?

Life's too short to get that upset about a harmless discussion on the merits of the two countries. Peace, man :tup

No Elephants but plenty of Bulls ;) :cheers

Do you get to ride the Bulls and then do you have to donate money to the handler?

I've never been to Goa or Thailand------------but-chill out :rofl

Been to the US many times! Main difference is the cows there live in fields and don't walk down the middle of the interstate! Elephants are in zoos and rats stay hidden (well, most of the time).

I think you may also find your money won't last as long (by a factor of ten!) and the food is nowhere near as good.

Come to think of it, if you imagine the opposite of Goa - that's the US!! :rofl

Welllllllllllll, we love Thailand and would go again in a heartbeat[prob 2009] but the flight is so much longer than Goa so we're going back to Goa for the 3rd time in January 'cos it's good and we're also off to the USA in May and everybody has their own opinions and just go where you feel comfortable with and enjoy.

Can anyone tell me the names of any good jewellers? Looking to go back later this year and will definately buy some bling, but want to be carefull and deal with straight jewellers!!

Please keep it friendly folks.

We will allow this topic to run as a discussion on Goa v Thailand. I shall change the topic title if that is what it has become.

Donnyboy, I think you are in the wrong topic. There is a topic further down the forum to discuss jewellers and jewellery.

Well I have visited Thailand 7 times, Goa 3 times and love them both, but I do agree that it is much cleaner than Goa in Thailand and the hotels are fantastic.
Thailand has lots of sightseeing, we liked Chiang Mai in the North and Bangkok is amazing, Goa and Thailand , they are both very special places and I will continue to visit them both, :offtop I know, but for me Cambodia is the most awesome country ever .............my favourite place.

I have found a couple of previous topics on the same subject so have merged them for those that wish to read earlier posts.
