Hi Caroline. We went upto Scotland on 29th December-5th January this year. We actually stayed in Fort William, but it rained every day! :(
We went upto Aviemore for the day, where there was plenty of snow! All the children *(and some adults even) were Sledging or Snowboarding-great wintery atmosphere! :) We went upto the Cairngorn Mountains........
VERY COLD at the top, i can tell you! There are also Husky Dog Rides, Reindeer Shelter, and plenty more to do and see around Aviemore.
We have actually booked a 4bedroom detatched house for February next year. As there are only 4of us going up, my children can have a bedroom each! We are stopping just outside Aviemore, a place called Granton on Spey. The surrounding countryside/area around this location is suberb, and stunning. We cant wait to return. :D

The drive upto Glasgow itself is boring, but when you get past Glasgow, you then start passing some wonderful countryside, and Lochs. It will probably take us around 9hours to get up there (we stop a couple of times) but its so scenic on route. :P

Hi Caroline. If you are thinking of going around the Aviemore area, there are loads more things tro do. There is also a Wildlife park just outside Aviemore, my children want us to take them there when we return in February. :) You are not that far from Fort William, where you will see Ben Nevis. We went up this year in the cable car-a bit of rocking going on, as it was quite windy! Not a journey for the faint hearted-my mother inlaw was petrified! The views at the top are spectacular :wow
There is a very reasonable priced restaurant there, aswell as a shop.
Dont forget there is also Loch Ness. We went on a boat trip on the Loch-didnt see the monster though!  :) You will really enjoy it if you go .

A lot of the ski-resorts in Austria have plenty of activities for the non skier - walking, sleighrides, indoor pools, skating, sun bathing, apres-ski etc. We went to Kufstein in Austria one Xmas and visited Soll on Christmas Day. Trouble was there was no snow apart from the mountain tops...so up the cable car we went and spent Xmas lunch in the sun and snow...great.
