hi

We stayed at this Hotel 2 years ago with our 2 daughters who were then 13 and 10. The hotel is lovely, great food, good rooms etc - no complaints at all. I must say there weren't many children at the hotel and our eldest daughter was a bit bored. The only slight downside I would say was the evenings - there wasn't really much entertainment and we had, on some nights, 2 bored children !!! It is very difficult to get the right balance, we don't like hoards of children, kids clubs etc, but on the other hand, having the children moaning can spoil things a little. Having said all that, the Hotel is fantastic. Any questions, just ask.

Hi Joo

Thanks for your reply, I'm finding it more and more difficult to find places that me and my husband like and will keep a 12 and 14 year old happy for a fortnight. That's why I have started looking for next year so early.
We went to Crete last year and had a brilliant time, it was the Chania end of the Island and we stayed in a lovely hotel, but I now have to pay for my eldest as an adult and I go in the main school holidays, so as you can imagine the prices are coming in quite steep. So I want to make sure I get it right. The Grecotels do look nice.

hi again

We are in the same boat as you - whilst my husband and I like to choose holidays for us, we also have to bear in mind the children (mine are 15 and 12 now) like you we have to pay an adult price for our eldest daughter, which does bump up the price. We went to the Riu Atlantico, Isla Canela last year, a fab hotel, the only draw back for me and my husband was the amount of children (school hols) but having said that our daughters had a wonderful time and there was always a quiet corner for us and the Hotel was upmarket and very nice. We are going to Thassos in July this year and I'm worrying already as to whether there will be enough for the girls to do, but the hotel we've picked looks lovely. You could try the Iberostar Costa Calero in Lanzarote, we are going in 2 weeks, again it looks a classy hotel and should attract a few families. I could rabbit on forever about holidays!!! The R.B is fab, but you may just struggle a little with your children, especially at night. Please let me know what you decide to do.

Hi joo9

Think I might give this one in Crete a miss due to location I think the kids might struggle especially in the evening. :( Thanks for the tip about the Riu Atlantico, I quite fancy the Costa de la Luz. I am very flexible about where I go as my two priorities are really just that the children are not bored, and that the accommodation is good. So it seems that we have similar requirements. It must be even more difficult when they are 15plus.

I'm not too keen on places that look 'tired' and also I don't really like 'family' rooms that are just twins with extra beds crammed in all over the place. (Especially when I have paid full price for a 13 year old  )

Just read this back and I sound really fussy. Going to a holiday village in Olu Deniz, Turkey this year that has rave reviews, so fingers crossed.

Thanks again :D :D :D
