they have newly introduced a bus service -FREE- to take holidaymakers to other hotels in the chain for the day.
you book this with reception in your hotel and get free travel to which ever other hotel you want to visit and can then use your all inclusive ticket to get lunch/snacks/drinks there.
we visited various hotels during our holiday,
golden sun(on beach with own terraced snack bar, but surly hotel bar staff and what appeared to be a lot of stairs and a pool hidden from sun for most of day)
planamar(lovely little hotel with garden type patio-would be happy to stay in this location)
royal star(liked the idea of separate adults entertainment bar, but not the bar staff's way of serving rounds of drinks to parties when all other hotels limit you to 2 drinks)
casino royal( a lot of stairs to get to foyer and the dirtiest toilets at the bar level, we have ever seen in any h-top hotel)
the bus ran 3 times a day to and from callela/lloret and although it did not run late at night it was a great idea and very heavily used so you had to book early to be sure of getting on.
I have just returned from royal beach hotel at Lloret yesterday, and saw the bus on several days when it came to pick passengers up , i agree, you would have to book early for this as it seemed a very busy service
Casino Royal last August, and although I knew we could visit the other hotels in the chain, we just couldn't be bothered walking or taxi-ing over to them. One family we spoke to went to the Royal Star every night because their entertainment was better than ours, but they spent a few bob on taxis doing that over the whole week.
I would definitely consider staying in a H.Top hotel again, especially now I know about the bus service. We can always get good cheap deals in our local paper for various H.Top hotels on the Costa Brava/Maresme, and I loved Lloret, such a lovely cosmopolitan atmosphere and all those shops!! It would have to be one of the hotels with air-conditioning next time though

Just returned having stayed at The Planamar and would advise anyone booking up for the shuttle bus (must be booked the day before you want to use it) to make sure you are waiting for the bus outside your hotel at least 15 minutes before departure time indicated. From experience, I was there at the time indicated on the paperwork - BUT didn't notice the "advice printed on it" which advised to be there 15 minutes before the time shown. Having waited about half-an-hour I returned to the Reception to be told it had gone a few minutes before the scheduled time. I re-booked for the following day and made sure I was there in good time!! The previous evening our shuttle bus to the Gran Palace was 45 minutes late!!
