hı from ıstanbul
havıng a great tıme ın ıstanbul but ıts not stopped raınıng for 3 days grrr. so far we have vısıted blue mosque, hagıa sofıa ,grand bazaar,cıstern and topkapı palace and harem, wow all these places are amazıng the topkapı palace and harem are a just stunnıng and well worth payıng the extra for the harem entrance. ıve taken loads of photos and wıll try and down load them all once ım home end of the week. we are hopıng to vısıt the prınces ıslands tomorrow for my daughters 9th bırthday weather permıttıng . we also want to see the bosphorus rıver and another palace ı cant spell but where ataturk dıed. anyone thınkıng of vısıtıng thıs wonderful cıty book up ıts truly amazıng wıth so many sıghts to see we are goıng to run out of tıme even after a week

Good to hear you are enjoying yourself ellie meg ,sounds great always mean to go to istanbul ,but the wife is not to fond of the sight seeing kinda stuff ,i love it ,think i will just have to put my foot down this year and stuff the pool holiday. Pity about the weather hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday .

Glad to hear you're having a fab time Karen - despite the weather. I'm going to do a little research on Istanbul as OH and I love these sightseeing trips for short breaks. Happy Birthday to the little one as well
just got back so knackered, had a fab time, i will write a report later and ive got so many pics to download will take me ages unless theres a quick way to download about 100 photos. we didnt make the dolmabahce palace as it was closed both days we tried due to republic holiday. we went to the beylerbeyi palace instead and that was stunning, we also nipped to chora church this morning and the mosaics there a wonderful, the weather improved tues til today and we visited the largest princes island and that was really lovely, ill try in the next few days to do a more detailled description

1 thing i did forgot to mention was it was a nightmare changing sterling, hardly any where would accept it, no restaurants or shops we tried would, this is the 1st time going to turkey for over 26 years have i had this problem, they would take dollars and euro, 1 bank wouldnt even accept sterling 
, so we just had to change at exchange offices and get a bad rate, very strange not sure if this is due to £ fluctuating a lot or another reason

I m in istanbul , I have seen 1 hour ago in a change office GBP 2.48-2.56
we only got 2.3 yesterday & the previous days, we were in the sultanahmet area , but sterling has gone up today anyway
