Hello all I'm looking for some advice please.
I've been to benidorm before but always as a family ( 2 adults, 2 kids)
I now want to go as a couple in the oct half term, 25-10-08 for a week.
I've never been out of the main season before and have always been AI or full board.
Got to be in the half term because new partner works in a school.
we are in our late 40's but want to see a bit of nightlife/ entertainment without being too rowdy.
Would people recommend we try self catering and if so where?
I have priced up both the flamingo oasis and flamingo benidorm AI for that week but think they're a bit pricey for that time of year. Especially as we plan on going out a lot.
Any advice or recommendations gratefully received,
Thanks in advance,
Rennie
Sol Pelicanos/Ocas is really nice and great for families. You are only a 2 min walk from nightlife, but far enough away for it to not be rowdy and only a few min walk from beach. We stayed half board but you can do B/B if you want. Check out travel republic as they seem to do good deals.

As a couple, a bit older than you (early 60's) we love the Cabaret Bars along Calle Gerona. Zodiac, Palladium, Stardust, Rockerfella's, Valentines, Talk of the Coast and not very far off the street is the Town, UK Bar and Steptoes. We prefer self catering as not too keen on hotel meals. Although prices have gone up over the last 6 months we still find it cheaper to go self catering. We generally have a late breakfast out, soup or toast and beans in apartment late afternoon and a meal out at night, no real cooking. Last October we stayed in the San Diego Apartments on Calle Gerona. If you know Benidorm they are directly across from KFC and between the Ambassador and Marina Hotels
We were back at the apartments last week. It was a bit different from October as loads of Stags and Hens were frequenting the Beachcomber and Bahamas discos which were side on to the apartments and a lot more noise than in October. Cafe Benidorm is just up the side street although we haven't tried that. Yet!!!!!). Even the noise last week hasn't put us off and we hope to back in October to the best equipped apartments we have found in 20 years.
If it comes to hotels and this is a personal opinion, we hated the Ocas and would definatley prefer the Ambassador or the Dalmatos.
P. M Me if you want any further info about the apartments

We also are a bit older than you - mid to late fifties - regular visitors to Benidorm out of 'peak season' always go Sc as there are loads of places to eat well and drink cheaply~!!! If you like Chinese you will be amazed at prices!!! Picassso apts rec but look on Travel Republic site or Winter Sunshine (.com) I think. Wouldn't go Ai in Benidorm as there is so much to see and if you're AI you don't tend to venture out too much. If you fancy an 'english' , Ray's Chippy Brill!

Thanks for suggestions so far, I'm looking at all places mentioned.
Am swaying more towards SC now

Hi Rennie,
If you have plumped for self catering & depending on your budget; I can recommend these apartments...http://www.vina-delmar.com/index.php?lang=en they are on Avda. Mediterranio which is one street back from the beach. Lovely & clean when we went a couple of years ago and going on the dates you gave should be around 350 euros for a 1 bed apt. The Vina del Mar cafe/restaurant below the apartments is also nice for a coffee or snack. Hope this is of some help, have a good `un wherever you decide.
Best Regards, Brigger

Have booked levante club appartments for the oct half term now.
are the 3 pubs closest to the apartments, triangle, plazza, white horse any good?
any recomendations for food or bars we should try?
I know roughly where they are but never been further east than indoor market or mcdonalds.
thanks again for all the replies

Hi rennie ... you may pick up some useful info and attract more feedback about the complex and its immediate vicinity in our Levante Club Apartments topic.

Rennie, I stopped in the levante Club apartments in May, couldn't be faulted.
Have a look at my review (Ian from Newcastle). Nice (reasonably priced) meals at La Maruda on the corner of Calle Londres and a very welcoming Spanish bar, Lino's on the same street.
