there is loads to do in Puerto Rico...you can go out on something called the "crazy Banana" and basically you go out to sea abit on an inflated banana being towed by a boat and then every so often, it tips you off when you are least expecting it. Loads of fun! Yes, you can also go diving. Rob went to Amadores ( just up the road) and he said the visibility was really good. His instructor was from Playa Taurito which is about 5 miles away from Rico but i am sure you would find a diving school in Rico itself. If you want to travel to Mogan, you can go on the Yellow Submarine, little trip underwater where you see a couple of wrecks etc. There are all the usual glass bottom boat trips, dolphin trips, fishing trips etc..
There is plenty to do at night, big assortment of bars, restaurants etc that cater for every taste. Just depends how adventurous you are! Enjoy....

saw your post in the tenerife bit too..if you have never been to the Canary islands before..you have made the right choice in starting with Gran Can. You will also find that once you visit one island, you go to the others and you keep returning.

There will be a review on your hotel elsewhere on the site so you can check out what people say about it.

I also forgot to mention that you can hire jeeps, have a helicopter tour and generally find many adventurous things to do. Transfer time to Puerto Rico is not too bad, if you are first drop off, it would be about 40 minutes i guess, but as a rule, i try to avoid coach transfers ( have kids and too long on a coach and its barf time!). Taxi's are relatively cheap and there is a pretty decent bus service too. There are plenty of places to hire a car from. We found it was better to organise our own trips rather that go through the reps. It was cheaper and also means you can go at your own pace rather than be tied to someone elses itinery and visit more places in a day in search of adventure!

I really hope you enjoy it..
