Hi, Can anyone tell me if they have visited Pefkohori? (Halkidiki)
We are due to go there next month with our two daughters (13yrs & 7yrs)
we are staying at the ioli Village apartments. We would really welcome any reviews and Information as we have never been to Greece before.
Would like to know places to eat, visit, and take the children etc.
Thank you.

I'm sure you'll like Greece and Halkidiki in particular. I've visited numerous resorts both on the mainland and on various Greek islands and never had a bad time. I've always found the people to be friendly, the scenery beatiful, the beaches clean and the local beer, especially the Mythos, gorgeous.
Me and my girlfriend have just returned from Halkidiki and really enjoyed it. We stayed 5 kms away from your resort in Hanioti. We spent a couple of days and nights in Pefkohori and really liked the relaxed atmosphere. There are a number of restaurants, bars and shops lining the 'front' opposite the beach so you'll be spoilt for choice. We had two very good meals but I can't remember the names of the places we ate at - not much help I know! There are also a number of restaurants and bars lining the main road through the town.
There was a funfair open in Pefkohori when we visited although I don't know if this is there permanently or not.
If you fancy visiting another resort Hanioti is only 5 euros in a taxi. We used to walk one way and get a taxi back the other. Polichrono is approx 10 kms away and this is another nice resort well worth visiting. Buses run all along the coast but we found these to be unreliable.
Hope this has been of some help.

I really enjoyed Halkidiki.
One day we went on a bike ride around the peninsular one day and there are some lovely little villages. Everyone is so friendly.
We also went on a traditional greek night which was good fun. Great family night out. Usually they take you up into a hill town and the even t is held outdoors in the market square. Sadly it had been raining the evening we went so we had to sit indoors.
Have a great time.
We stayed in Polychrono a couple of years ago and I found the forums on this site quite useful - I really enjoyed Halkidiki.

HI Puddleduck2, Thank you for the reply, have had a look at the web site, very useful. We won't be able to do the bikes as we have the two children with us, but we will certainly be doing the greek nights then, they sound great, did you book them with your tour company or direct with the greeks?
Really enjoyed reading your reviews, great to hear that the resort is a relaxed atmosphere was hoping this would be the case. Glad to also hear that hanioti is only a sort taxi away and is also another nice resort. I know the girls will enjoy the clean beaches and funfair.
Thank you once again.
thank you for the information, will have a look at the site.
We stayed in Pefkohori last year and enjoyed out time there, although I have to say we found it very busy. We were there for what they call the 'Greek fortnight' this is when alot of Greeks have their holidays, so it can be very busy. The food and hospitality was very good, we did enjoy going into Hanioti as they pedestrianise the main streets on a night. I am sure you will have a good holiday.
Hi Nicci - we booked via our rep. Didn't see any advertised locally to be honest.
Thank you for telling me about the Greeks fortnight, what date is that? has we are going 18 Aug.
We are going for the first 2 weeks in September - without kids for the first time so we are hoping it will be quiet with the schools having gone back!
A review here for you Mickaz -
We went 12th August for a fortnight and it calmed down about the middle of our second week. Being a greek holiday resort it means it caters for everyone. Although busy we still had a great time.
Looks good to me!
Been told about a few places to eat and visit already, and looking forward to them too. hopefully weather will be great unlike england,
Thank you again.
I am bit upset I never found this holiday discussion reviews before we booked our holiday, never mind we can check out lots of places and reviews before we book next years now.
wish you both a great time for next year all alone with-out kids, (lucky you)
