Interesting thread.

We tip 10% when we go out for dinner each night, (unless it's a night where the kids have wanted to go to McDonalds!) if the meal/service has been good.

If we were on a package holiday we wouldn't tip the transfer driver but on our last holiday we went DIY & so tipped the mini bus driver. I think the fare was £50 from Dalaman to Marmaris & so we tipped him £5.

Other than that, we generally leave a tip for the maid, if she's looked after us & this would be either £5 or £10

If I stopped off for a single drink somewhere I certainly wouldn't tip & I can't say I've ever used the service of a bell boy.

In Olu Deniz we found that when we had drinks on the beach at night....think it was the Buzz bar, they would presume when you paid that if say it was 9 lira and you gave a 10 notes that the remaining 1 was for them!!

I actually find this quite cheeky when you aren't given a choice. Gambia was worse though. We had 2 drinks in a bar and the waiter was going to keep what was more than the price of the drinks. I asked for my change to receive the incredulous remark of 'well some people leave that much money'!!!!

OH and I are not tight but do believe in tipping when something is worth it not just because!
