Going to Kalambaka for easter 2007. Flying to Athens.
Anyone give me a clue as to best route and approximate journey time by car plase?
We did this journey at the beginning of Sept. We picked up the hire car from Athens airport about 6pm and arrived in Kastraki (just past Kalambaka) at about 10pm. The journey is really simple
From Athens follow signs for Lamia, then follow the coast road to Larisa, then towards Trikala. At Trikala follow signs for Metreora/Kalambaka.
I take it you are going to visit the rocks at Meteora, if you haven't already booked accommodation Kastraki is a nicer small village about 1km past Kalambaka. Kalambaka is quite a big town which we drove through a few times and whilst it is nice I thought it seemed a bit busy.
If you go to the following link you can see the route for yourself

Thanks a million. Yes going to see the rocks and hope to see how colourful easter is in Greece. Thanks for the tip on accomodation.
