The sea is generally OK to swim in at that time, but the swimming pools tend to be colder. We had visitors here at the end of October last year and we were swimming and sunbathing. All beach facilities are open as are the restaurants and bars!

Limassol is open pretty much all year round as it's a mixture of resort and working town so there will always be people in the bars and restaurants no matter what the time of year or weather.

The summer certainly hasn't been as hot this year as in the past. We've not had the constant 40C+ temperatures that we've experienced since we came to live in Limassol in March 2004. The weather seems to have been "odd" the world over this year so not quite sure how our winter will be this time...

It has cooled down somewhat and in the evening we've been managing without the ceiling fans and just leaving the patio doors open while we're watching TV at home.

Even with the power cuts after the explosion at the power station in July this year, we didn't use or actually need the A/C units in the living room like we've had to do for the last couple of years.

For me, it's getting a little too cool for the pool but the sea still beckons and there was no shortage of people on the beach when we drove along Limassol seafront from Amathusa to the Old Port on Saturday lunchtime.

Enjoy!

Hi Shell

Oh forgot about that dreadful explosion. Has it affected the hotel business, had friends who lived in Malta and they used to get water cuts and power but somehow they kept tourists happy! We were looking at that end Limassol too.

None of the hotels were affected in the tourist areas as the electricity company made certain that would not happen.

At the very beginning, household residents and businesses were getting up to 3 cuts per day and a lot of time without warning until the supply stabilised once more power was brought back after a few days. Then we got a timetable which worked fairly well.

The only saving grace is that in August a lot of people go on holiday and businesses close for a week or two so that meant not as much power was required which meant less cuts and we managed to get through till the end of the month with barely any big cuts. No cuts since the start of September so all is looking good at the moment.

We have to be careful with water still as the desalination plants were either turned off or on low capacity but winter is on it's way and hopefully, we will weather the storm. However, we still have to pay the increased bills that we're being stung with now the main crisis is past.

After the results of the investigation into where the responsibility lies, well - we shall have to wait and see how that turns out....
