Hi guys we are still trying to find some where to stay next year, its not that there is know where to stay. its we just don't know who to believe when you read all the reviews there seems to be so many differences between folk on most places well we need help we have seen somewhere which we believe would be perfect for our first ever visit to Turkey its in Hisaronu and its called the Hisar Holiday Club does any body have any views on this place please let me know
cheers guys
Hi Neil, go to the Hotel Review box at the top of this forum and click on it, click on Turkey and then scroll down the list to your hotel. Okay, the reviews are two years old but very favourable. Hisaronu is a good choice for your first visit to this country, you've got Olu Deniz a short dolmus(mini bus) ride away with its beach and nature reserve. In the other direction you've got Fethiye which has a fantastic weekly market. It also has a lovely harbour and you can take a water taxi to Calis Beach. Out and about you've got the Greek Ghost Village and further away there is Saklikent Gorge.
Hi thanks for that info les, i have been through every one of the hotel reviews(3days it took) and its so confusing some hotels/apartments may have 15 reviews 8 good 5 bad and the rest indifferent so i was just looking for some advise on the Hisar Holiday Club or so i thought then we found another one to ask about its called mounta verde it looks lovely but just read its fair way out of the town so still no further forward but we look forward to some suggestions
While hotel reviews are a good indicator and information resource, I would take them overall with a pinch of salt. What you will find is many people will only post a review if they have something to complain about, an issue to raise or to praise a place. You seldom get reviews down the middle. While I too use reviews as an indicator, I don't take them as absolute. If you only went off reviews, you'd never book anywhere! Reviews are very subjective and opinion based. What one see's as an issue, many won't. I've stayed at hotels that have had awful reviews and thought they were fine. Ultimately, it's what you get a feel for. Sometimes you just have to go for it if it sounds good to you.

You can usually dismiss the ones which give everything 5 stars and also the ones which are all 1 star. Read the ones in the middle and pay attention to the things they praise / criticise. Often when you read them a second time you will see that some of the things complained about are nothing to do with the hotel, eg the weather, the beach, outside bars and restaurants.
If a place has consistently bad reviews then it probably should be avoided. However you also have to look at the time of year visited and the type of group booked. Teenagers would probably hate a hotel that is family orientated. Likewise a family would hate an 18-30's type hotel.

the monte verdi is lovely we always stay next door in the grena appts it is not too far from town easily walkable and buses run up till 1 30 in the morning
What age group are you in ,will you have children with you, what sort of holiday do you like, you may get more suggestions if you give a little information. We stayed at Marmaris Park hotel last year and loved it,we are 45-59,no children with us,prefer the sea to the pool, not too noisy, other people may hate it.
Thank you all so much i should have said our kids are 15,13 and 12 and we do like some noise not to much though and love people watching i have COPD so hills are out of the question cant walk to far now-a-days (that will teach me for smoking when i was a younger man) so we are looking at the main part of hisaronu and think we have found a hotel its the hisar holiday club hotel just hope we have not picked the wrong one only time will tell
I'm an Icmeler person so biased.
All I would say is that Icmeler is very flat so if you find hills difficult you shoud bear this in mind.

I go to other resorts but always return to Icmeler every year.
It is the perfect place for a first time visitor to Turkey as it has everything on the doorstep.
We have stayed in the hisar holiday club a number of times, twice this year. Its a lovely hotel, a large number of the guests are repeat visitors. The rooms are basic but clean and most have lovely views of the mountains.
You are in the middle of the high street so the location is perfect.
we have never had any problems getting a sunbed round the pool, however the pool can be quite chilly
The pool maintenance man is round there morning and evening keeping the whole area clean and tidy.
Breakfast is a typical turkish breakfast but you can pay and have a full english if thats your thing.
The staff are friendly and help make the holiday. I think some of the negative reviews posted were when there was a wedding in the hotel, I guess that could happen anywhere.
Its lovely to sit in the restaurant and people watch as you are above the street, also with the eski bar you can sit outside on the terrace or inside.
Its a lovely hotel, Im sure you will find it a great base to stay.
hugs la x
