we will book for next yr around September 2012 and will be going to a Greek Island next yr (Turkey this summer for the first time). I hope you dont all mind helping me with some suggestions...
There will be 2 adults and a 7 yr old - we have to go in school hols and prefer Aug. It will be 2 weeks so an island big enough for us to find stuff to do but does not have to be water parks etc.
We loved the laid back beautiful island of Samos. The history of Rhodes Town and the picture postcard prettiness of Lindos with the mountains and sandy beaches of Kefalonia.
Islands I am looking at are Thassos (looks pretty,but is there enough to do?), Naxos and Skopelos (expensive to get to unless you go with Olympic who I am not keen on).
I know this is yet another one of those which Greek Island topics for which I am very sorry!

I would suggest Lesvos. This is the 3rd largest Greek island and there's plenty to see. I would also say that Naxos is a favourite of ours. We used Olympic last year for the first time (Syros) and it all went like clockwork, no problems at all. Remember you will need to rent a car in Lesvos if you want to see the island, we collect at the airport which avoids the long transfer provided by the tour operators. We always stay in the Molyvos area. By car this takes less than 1 hour
