hello, hope someone can give me some advise please. We are due to book our summer hols soon and hoping to go to Skopelos but if not might book Crete - just am a bit unsure where would suit us... please help! Here goes....
2 x adults and a 6 yr old. We LOVE Greece and like to eat out avoiding all the English pub type places and preferring Greek food. Would like a quietish resort (at least as quiet as it can be in Aug), ie families and older people but no noisy groups. Near to a sandy beach would be fab but we do hire a car so its not essential. Like somewhere you can wander about at night (like Lindos, Rhodes) , ideally somewhere pretty and traditional not full of huge all inclusives.
Any suggestions??

I would start my search at sissi bay and look east along the coast or alternatively start at Reythmno and work west along the coast [Chania is the regional airport for this area if you can get a flight from your area ] Like most of Greece beeches tend to be stony with occasional sandy coves
do some research using our resort reports in conjunction with one of many maps available on the net or better still google earth

Elounda,in Crete was one of the most beautiful unspoilt resorts we have been to.
Its 7 years since we were there so may have changed since but it was one of our best holidays.

A couple of years ago we stayed in Agia Pelagia, near Heaklion - it may be too small & quiet for you, but it seems to tick your boxes in all other respects
