I guess you're looking at the Taurus Park in Pineda. If so, it's an excellent family hotel with loads going on (we've been twice). I would thoroughly recommend it. Pineda itself is very quiet, and the beach is not good for kids - all pebbles, and shelves very steeply. There's more life and a better beach, in the next town, Calella.

Salou is much bigger and busier and has a fantastic beach (been there twice, too). The clincher for us was PortAventura. Not sure which hotel you're looking at, but you won't go far wrong if it's a Thomson Superfamily one (although they do tend to be quite pricey).

Both resorts are about an hour from Barcelona, but Salou is only 20 mins from Reus Airport, whereas Pineda is 40 mins - 1 hour from Girona depending on where the coach has to drop off.

Salou gets our vote for the overall holiday, but Taurus Park rates as the best family Hotel we've stayed at and has bigger and better pools than anywhere else we've been.

If you're happy spending most of your holiday by the pool, and making use of the kids' clubs then go for Pineda. If you prefer a decent beach and a fantastic theme park, try Salou. Either way, you'll love it!

i was thinking of taurus how long would it take to walk to the other town rather than Pineda

we do like chilling by the pool and joining in the games but do like to wander out to eat. i know it hb but what food like think we would still wander out to eat sometimes.

i was looking at avendia suites i think it called and they are thompson family based in salou

Avenida Suites are brilliant. Althought there are 4* hotels in Salou and the Avenida is 3*, I still think its one of Salou's best! Search the web, you'll be hard pushed to find a bad review. Enjoy your holiday whatever you decide.
