We got a message on facebook on Saturday 10th March from some friends who were still in Malta to say they had a force 10 gale the night before. The weather is a bit hit and miss at this time of year but my parents (those in the shorts at the side of me in the photo) have been going every February for 12 years and this year was the worse weather they've experienced. But, it's been odd weather all over in Europe this last month.
We had SNOW in the tourist resorts in Cyprus (Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca at sea level) in the middle of the week that we were away - so we managed to escape that in Malta.
You just need to find a sheltered spot and it will feel quite pleasant. But make sure you have something warm if you go to Valletta. The streets are all long and narrow, with tall buildings on a grid type pattern and the wind will find you, wherever you are there!

Limassol, Cyprus
Am I correct in saying that they drive on the same side of the road as us in Malta? thanks again to all those who have answered my many questions. I've printed out all the information, and hubby is reading it at this moment
not quite sure if it's drive or aim ,.. no they still drive so as to keep their sword arm free [on the same side as us]
For driving information just have a google for the song called Maltese calypso
Brilliant ps - think we'll stick to the bus
The Maltese roads are worse than those in Cyprus and they leave a lot to be desired, especially after all the rain we've had this winter. There are more holes than surface now....
Valletta is a bit of a nightmare for parking so would avoid that and take the bus, a car is great for going across to Gozo for the day and just exploring the island, we do that often
Here is something I bet a lot of you didn't know, there used to be a railway in Malta, oh yes I kid ye not, parts of it can still be seen such as this old station building located at Rabat

Guess where I am going back to in October
Thanks for those Graham - we'll be setting off for Gatwick in around 2 hours - hopefully we'll avoid the snow
Fantastic Photos Graham, makes me quite nostalgic for Malta. I'd love to go again but could only manage to fit in a three or four night break if this year. Might have to wait till another year so we can get a week, as probably better value.
Great photo's Graham - can't wait now
Not long now Glynis, remember your ear plugs for Mrs Kilties snoring
Thers lots of history there judging by your photos . We will all thoroughly enjoy all that so could be another visit on the cards ! .
