Its very different from Olu Deniz, great for pubs/restaurants/shops/bars, every kind of entertainment you could think of. Great to go to for an evening and then retreat to the quiet of Olu.
There are some good evening entertainment bars in Hisaronu
There is a good market in Hisaronu on a Monday.
sounds nice and lively, picked olu deniz for a decent beach ,last 6 years been goin to marmaris ,so quiet days in olu then hisaronu in the evening .....
Don't know the ages in your party but as has been said there are some very lively bars. There is also a small fun fair and a go kart track that has kids karts as well as adults and is great fun. I'm going in July for the 17th time, guess you could say I like it!
re zonda ... been to marmaris for the last 6 years just thought have a change better beach, staying in the Montebello beach resort hotel, were in all late 20-'s and 30's ,most prob pop to hisaronu for a few nights and we always do a boat cruise ,so any info on the all day cruise would be great..thanks
I've been on a couple of the all day cruises, both went to different places but both were equally enjoyable. Don't book with the excursion shops, go down to the beach front at Olu Deniz and speak to the boat crews and book direct with them and don't forget to haggle especially if there are a lot of you. You can also do this in Fethiye where you get a wider variety of boats/ trips.
i'm looking forward to finding out about hisaronu too this year - going to ovacik after going to Marmaris for the last 9 years!!! x
there is a great little bar in olu deniz called One For the Road, it is not very big but is very friendly and you can chill out there and the drinks are reasonably priced, if you turn up the road from the Buzz Bar which is on the sea front and carry on up the road you will find it, I think alot of ex pats drink in there, it has a relaxed friendly atmosphere, there is also a llittle shop next door that sells hand made soap. They have a face book page as well with pictures etc on it. Buzz Bar does great cocktails. There is a bowling alley in olu deniz on the sea front by the Belkiz hotel, it is air conditioned, not very big but we visited it quite a few times to get out of the heat and had good fun in there, also has a small bar.
thnx manxpolly for your help
We usually go to marmaris as well but fancied a change last year, Olu deniz is nice, boat trips are good, we did the sunset cruise and got some lovely photos, the beach is good, there are various beaches you can go to, we went to sugar beach, and billys beach ask at your hotel about transport. We have stayed in hisaronu once before and we did go up twice last year, it is very lively and you will get the 2 for 1 offers on cocktails and drinks that you do not seem to get in Olu deniz, our husbands did the go karting and they had great fun except for one that was hungover as we had been in one of the kararoke bars in hisaronu the night before and got talking to the owner who had given us a few free drinks and we did not leave until well after 3 in the morning, nice bar just cannot remember the name of it, will post name if I remember. There is a good restaurant in hisaronu called The Bees Knees you go upstairs to get to it and it was near a hairdressers shop, it was very busy though which is always a good sign, that bar I mentioned before was just round the corner at the top of the little hill. It was nice to have the option of chilling in olu and then going crazy in hisaronu.
hi polly we are staying in the Montebello resort hotel its just gone all inc so just have to wait and see lol the places u have suggested have looked really gd thnx. which in your opinion is the best beach? don't mind the odd day at the beach.i think we will most prob do hisaronu a few times in the evening. just looking at some pics on facebook looks gr8 and and can't wait, how many of you went ?
don't forget to take your beach shoes - getting in and out of the sea at Olu can be a struggle with shingle beach! Hisaronu is cooler during the day and livelier at night, you will be hard pushed not to find something for everyone from the traditional restaurants at the Ovacik end where you sit on the floor and pay about £6 a head for a set meal to the cocktail bars where happy hour is actually 3 hours long
3hr long happy hr for cocktails sound like my kinda happy hr lol
my daughter had a huge when i told her that one lol!!
We stayed at Belechan Beach Hotel which I think is near to where you are staying, we used to have breakfast if we missed it at the hotel sometimes at the lemon tree hotel which is also nearby, nice place to have brekkie. We are not really beach people, but the first time we went we went to bob's beach which was I think alot nicer than billy's beach, billys was alot bigger but bobs seem a bit quieter and it had a smaller more friendly bar area, unless it has changed, the first time we went was about 7 years ago. Not been to sugar beach but everybody seems to say it is good. Another nice restaurant we went to was called Swallows and was round the corner and down the road from the belechan beach.
polly
all your advice be gr8 really looking forward to it now,yeh its going to b different from marmaris but I think the change will be gd and with hisaronu just down the road plenty of nite life.i done marmaris 6 years on the bounce so it was time for a change...4 weeks 2 go can't wait
You will find drinks and food slightly more expensive in Olu Deniz than in Hisaronu.
I echo the sentiment about the beach shoes - I find getting in and out of the sea at OD really difficult! It's easier at the blue lagoon - but even though it's beautiful, I don't like it as much as the beach itself.
Get a dolmus from OD to H - much cheaper than a taxi and really easy to use. Hisaronu is pedestrianised in the evening so it will drop you off at the top of the main street and you can walk along the roads really safely as there's no cars (and I often forget in the daytime and go to walk in the road before my husband pulls me back!)
