Hi
My wife and I booked a holiday last Feb to Benidorm
for last Christmas and New Year
travelling on Dec 24 return 7 Jan
In Oct the return date was changed to the 8 Jan
I phoned the tour operator Direct Holidays
enquireing about facilities at the hotel as our date had been
changed I was informed that would be taken care of.
We arrived at Manchester Airport at 14.00pm on the 24 Dec to find
the flight had been delayed . We arrived at the Hotel at 04.00am 25 Dec
We later found out we we booked into the Hotel for 12.00 24 Dec
and booked out 12.00 on the 7 Jan (letter from DH said 8 Jan)
No help from Holiday Rep.
As my wife is disabled and no disabled toilet in the Hotel we had to pay
to take our room on for an extra day
Told by the Rep to claim back from DH when we got home

Airlines undertake the best efforts to carry passengers and baggage with reasonable
dispatch . Times are shown in the Charter Agreement and form no part of the contract
The carrier may without notice substitute alternative carriers or aircraft and may alter or
omit stopping places on the ticket in case of necessity.Schedules are subject to change
without notice and the carrier assumes no responsibility for any consequential loss.
Although I do sympathise with your journey, in accordance with the booking conditions,
Direct Holidays cannot be held responsible for any delay or change to travel arrangements.Indeed, I am afraid that the only formal compensation charter passengers can obtain is through any insurance policy, which you may hold. However, I am sorry
for the distress, which the delay obviously caused .
As a company, Direct Holidays does pride itself in both product and service delivered and is most disappointing to be made aware of such negative feedback however this will be used in a constructive manner in forthcoming training and contracting sessions

I would suggest that you read the "Safe & Sound" booklet which can be downloaded by clicking on it at the top of the page.
You may like to consider contacting Ros Fernihough the travel lawyer who has assisted many members of HT with problems. She or a member of her staff can be contacted on 01922 621114 - They will be able to advise you with regard to taking the matter further.
In my opinion you deserve something more than the letter you received.
From the point of advertising HT does not carry advertising although there are some links.
Members of HT may recommend a particular Tour Operator or agent, just as we may express an opinion, but HT does not in any way endorse any of these companies.
Should you proceed further with a claim please would you post a report on here when the matter is concluded. Members do like to help and feedback may help others in the future.

If your original return flight was scheduled to leave Alicante late afternoon or evening of 7th January and your flight was then rescheduled for say 2am on 8th January - then you would have still had to leave your hotel accommodation at mid-day on 7th having had the hotel room booked for 7 nights from 24th December (albeit arriving late 24th or early 25th). Regretably, I think the tour operator and airline will run with the reply that they have given.
If your original flight back to the UK was scheduled earlier on the 7th - say the morning or afternoon and they then changed this to a flight on the 8th (not just early hours of the 8th) - say 10am, then I would say that it is certainly very unreasonable for them to have asked you to leave your accommodation at mid-say on the 7th and would expect you to be provided with accommodation for that extra night in Benidorm.
