Hi All,
As the subject says, we want to go to a Greek island, or mainland, (prefer island) that is close enough to Athens to be able to go on a 2/3 tour.
So, it's for 2 weeks, on a SC or B&B basis, maybe last minute, (booked max 6 weeks min 2 weeks before departure) must be in Greece on the 23rd May as it's our 10th wedding anniversary, and not a DIY holiday. Done a lot of Greek islands, but the only one we did the Athens trip from was Zante, so we don't want to go there. Would like to go to Evia, but can't find a travel agent that is within our budget. Sunvil do go to Evia but are very expensive
So, you Greekofiles where do you suggest?
Might not be back online till Sunday/Monday as we have visitors this weekend, but please do post your replies, and when the pesky visitors have gone, I can then come back online.
The Saronics are the obvious choice. We have been to Spetses and Hydra and enjoyed them both. Tolon is an easy drive from Athens and theres a lot to see in this area and a boat trip through the Corinth canal is interesting. Naplion has a fascinating old town. Evia has never been popular with UK operators but we will get there one day. Have had some good holidays with Sunvil.
We drove to Evia after staying over night in Marathon Bay , the motorway passes near where the bridge crosses to the island also the train goes there. You might try looking at the port of Rifina to get to some of the islands. Unfortunately not it will be difficult to not DIY. The tour companies only want to do what's easy but don't write off Sunvil they sometimes have offers.

Hi Mehallie,
At the moment it's cost that's the problem. A 2 week holiday with a tour operator is far cheaper than a DIY as things stand. Yes, your limited to where you can go with a TO, bit of a catch 22 situation me thinks. Oh well, thanks anyway, will keep looking on Sunvil's site for offers.
