I've just had all my holiday stuff out to make a list of stuff I need to buy for my Summer hols so I could buy bits at a time rather than going and spending loads in one go.
Think I went a bit mad in last years sales. Got about 15 pairs of shorts and 20 'day' tops I only had about half that amount on my last holiday The suitcase is full and I've not got any bikinis, dresses or toiletries in there yet
wish i hadn`t....don`t think anythings gonna fit me anymore ..i`m trying to lose weight so will have to buy kids stuff for now and wait until nearer the time for my stuff..oh and i might buy a couple of things for hubby lol ..
just a tip...if you have an Ethel Austin shop near you they`ve got large bottles of ambre solaire milk for a fiver, think its factors 15, 20 and maybe higher...just something i noticed while i was in there and thought i`d pass it on

Dorothy Perkins have some great boob tubes in. I lived in them on holiday last year, with shorts during the day, and night cropped trousers/dressy shorts on a night. 3 for £12, in loads of different colours, went and bought a few more last week.
I really cut back on what i take abroad, i used to take far too much stuff with me years ago
As i'm only going down the caravan this year i'd best get my clothes BEFORE the summer gear arrives, as waterproofs and rain jackets will be what i need
I plan to have a "holiday shopping day" soon, go away at the start of June so sometime in the next couple of weeks going to get my clothes down from the loft to see what I need and what is still ok from last year. If I don't check first I'll go out and buy things I don't need or end up buying tops/bottoms that don't go with anything I already have. Does anyone else here meticulously plan their outfits ie. what tops they will wear with which skirts/shorts/flipflops etc?
same black trousers twice or at a push 3 times but got to have a different top and shoes each time,
same as jewellery and bags . And like most people each year i say i'm not taking as many clothes , but we do don't we ladies .
Lynne.
So now I travel in something like pumps or trainers, take one pair decentish sandals and one pair flip flops and that does me. I really don't care for coordinating footwear with outfits on holiday, but try to have something that goes with pretty much everything. My hols are casual affairs anyway.
I take one bag only, apart from my hand luggage bag (which has the handbag inside it when travelling).
I tend to buy shoes for my holidays that will go with every. Last year I took a black pair of pumps, just thin ones, black strappy sandals and some white strappy sandals. I then had a little black bag, just big enough to fit some money in and my camera that went across my body that I used on a night, and a variety of beach bags for during the day. I know black bags and shoes sound a bit depressing on holiday but clothes are normally brightly coloured so they calm it all down a bit, and leave me looking less clown-like
How did I do it ?
3 bikini's ( only wore 2 ) , 7 tops ( wore 5 ) , 1 pair jeans ( wore every night but washed them inbetween and it was cold at night ! ) 1 skirt, 2 pairs shorts, 1 sundress and 3 pairs of flipflops !
daughter had more clothes than me, but she wore them all, so thats ok.
Anyway, back to original post about buying holiday clothes, I wish i'd bought them in tenerife ! primark was hopeless at the time I was looking, ( not their fault, it was begining of march ) so, we have a bit more choice now as the summer stuff is coming in, so I will look forward to getting a few bits for our july holiday !
cheers,
juby
Only need to buy some kind of footwear that will do me and a new bag and I'm set for end of June.
For those of you that have little children, Homebargains have 'floaties' swimming costumes in stock for an amazing £2.99 - they are over £20 in Mothercare..... A Real bargain..... Denny
I've started buying for the kids but don't want to buy too much 'good' stuff incase they have a growth spirt before August. Did brilliantly in Asda though for my 9 year old, 2 pairs of crop trousers, 4 t-shirts,tankini, a dress and a hoody all for about £30. My 11 year old had some bits from New Look when they had their 20% off and we've just got some shorts from Next, since unless you want to order you have to grab the bigger sizes when you see them. I shall wait until the half term hols and we shall have a holiday shopping day for the 3 of us as it will bore my husband rigid!! He'll just go to M&S and Tesco a week before and do it all within an hour
That's how us men shop, Pam
On the subject of shoes, I used to take quite a few pairs with me but dont bother anymore as i only ever wore one pair and that was my old faithfuls. I actually call them my ugly shoes . They are from shoe market cost around £4. They are abit like a sandal but have a foam sole and heal. They may be ugly but my god they are comfy its like walking on air . I will stick to these.
