Are you not better waitng nearer the time (a late deal offer :) )First choice have got 1 night +flight (and a good one) for 2weeks, on I think the 4th Dec now from Gatwick for for £219 8)

Yes I agree about prices. We normally go with First Choice but their prices I thought were ridiculous for the same time at the same hotel we went to this year. Went with Thomas Cook and got a better deal than FC were offering and this included a flight upgrade. Still wasn't as cheap as the one you've found in Calangute though AWOL.

we booked the same hotel and time with thomson for feb 2008 and it was£60 cheaper than we paid with cosmos this feb

I've found the flight prices miles more expensive this year, and with less availability.

I have to book early to get the time off work that i want so cannot wait for late deals etc .
This year is costing around£1700 for two BB 14 nights with upgrades to Premium, at the Phoenix park.
next year is about £4 dearer and last year was about £10 cheaper.
So not a lot of change as far as I am concerned.

Not that I wouldn't like it cheaper, but if it was as cheap as the Costas what kind of tourists would you get ?
Union Jack swimming shorts?

first year we went was the first two weeks in March, very hot and humid at night.
But nowadays go last two in feb or last in Feb and 1st in March and it has been OK. So maybe the first years was a fluke.
First year was Baga but now prefer Candolim. just a bit quieter, not that Baga is particularly noisy etc.

And what is wrong with Union Jack shorts? There are many Brits who are proud to be British, and express it, in particular in a foreign land. They are proud patriots.Would you have our brave soldiers fighting in theatres of war in foreign lands not wear the Union Jack?
Reply
calm down, Lango.
Nothing wrong with the union flag at all, I am as proud as the next man of it. (as long as they don't stick the Welsh dragon on it)

Anyone with a sense of humour would have realised that I was poking fun at the typical British lager lout or BNP member.

As far as our brave soldiers are concerned, members of my own family have recently finished tours in Iraq and Afghanistan prior to that they served in Northern Ireland and Bosnia, and they never wear union jack swim shorts.
I really don't need a lecture on patriotism.

"And what is wrong with Union Jack shorts?"

Seriously... there are better ways to 'show' your nationality. It's hardly a statement of style is it? And why do we have to show where we are from while on holiday.... what's all that about? These days I wouldn't want anyone to know I'm from UK while on holiday, we don't exactly have the best reputation as tourists anyway... better to just keep quiet and avoid any hassle.

ok
lets get back on topic please. A copy of the original query

Just started looking at prices for 2 weeks holiday. Am I correct in saying they are coming up MUCH higher than normally? I usually pay about the £380 mark....Jan/Feb time for B&B...and they're coming up silly prices!

Best I've got so far is £434 in Calangute (where we prefer). Is this what most people on here are finding too?

further offtopic posts will be deleted.

The best ive found so far is flight only from thomascook, 330pounds for 14nights end Jan/beginnin Feb, then there are lots of hotels on lowcostbeds or other internet sites for approx 200pounds per room for 2 weeks. As there are 3 of us going it works out at around 400pounds each.

Maybe if you book your flights a bit later, say around 2 weeks before departure?

This has been bugging me for a couple of years now.
Each year i see lots of cheap Goa flights in December, but in Jan/Feb i cant find any as cheap as Dec.

You really get what you can afford.Riverside Regency, stayed there, for one night, booked for 14.The pits and not clean, but as other posts say 'just keep quiet and avoid hassle'Hmmm
