Just had the email confirmation regarding our villa.
It included a statement that everyone in the villa 17 years of age or older is subject to a tourism tax of 0.45E per person. It is not clear but I think it means per night up to a maximum of 7 nights. Apparently this has just been bought in by Catanlunya.
The villa owner says he will call round in the first few days to collect the tax. I hope we are in!!
Does anyone have any information on this?
That seems to back up what the villa owner is saying.
The site says that Catalunya is the first Spanish area to introduce this tax but IIRC didn't the Balearics try the same thing a few years back and then dropped it as it affected tourism numbers?
It was mentioned here last year:-
