The pools were chilly when they changed the water during our stay in late august/early september last year. Although it did warm up again by the following day but I remember jumping in and getting the shock of my life after they had been almost bath-like for the few days before!! The reason they change the water is because they don't use chlorine so the water is kept fresh by changing it. We're going on 16th July this year so they should be nice and warm by then.

Will have to brave those chilly waters then!

Had an email today from Iberostar saying:

Dear Mr. Rob,

First of all thank you for your interest. Tropical and Palace Hotels are seperated. So unfortunately you can not use Palace Hotel section.

That almost sounds as though the grounds are seperated now, but we've still not had anyone confirm this yet.

It will be interesting to find out how they've done it, although with the way its laid out, I can imagine that they've literally just run a fence right up the middle of the complex, which would be quite possible.

I braved the pools too, once you were in a few mins it was fine! 8)

That's a fab price. When are you going. I've just looked and they wanted nearly £2000 off me!!

Went to the tropical in september 2005 and totally loved it. I thought it was the nicer of the 2 sides. That's just my opinion though, so don't be offended if you think otherwise.

Eclipse Direct are doing good prices, especially from Birmingham in early May. Around £194 per adult, way cheaper than some self catering we were looking at.

Remove in-flight meals and it's even cheaper (which we've not bothered with).

I can't wait to go though, sounds pretty good, want to meet some new people as well. We fly 7th May and depart on the 15th.

My only concern was all this talk about food in the Palace being better, but with the Iberostar owning the Tropical I'm guessing this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Shame we can't use the bowling alley and bigger arcade next door though :(

we went in 2005 for our honeymoon and it was fantastic the veiws are stunning we walked to the beach and turned round and just gulped ,was quite tearfull as the veiws just took your breath away, anyway the beach was dangurouse i went to go in the sea,but it was rough and went deep quickly, they said they were going to put loads of sand down to make it safe ,but could not as the turtles were laying there eggs ...seems the turtles cause a lot of problems lol,be interesting to know if the beach has been improved, also the free towels u had to get there about 7/8am to get them we gave up on that.i cant see how u will be stopped from using both hotels pools and there is no way to seperate 14 pools!!!yes 14!,but can understand how they can stop u using the facilaties..as for the gemans,i dont think they would cause probs i think i would rather have a few germans then loads of english,no offence but the english we met about 70% of them drunk from 1st thing in morn till closing time, most were loud and vulger and made you embarresed to be british...but we would love to go again ,so just waiting for the 1st lot of ppl to write on boards

Has ayone eaten at the Indian restaurant? Do they do the things my kids will eat like Korma and Tikka Masala etc? What time do they stop serving? Was wondering if we could book in for a meal by ourselves if the kids are at a club one night.

I've just watched the video on the First Choice Holliday Village page of their website. They are still showing some of the facilities from the Tropical as part of the video. If the facilities are no longer available to us then the video needs to be changed.

Hi only me again!!

Thankyou for answering my last questions folks, this forum is sooooooooooooooooooooo helpfull :bow

Can any body clarify on a few things please?

1:Are ice creams inc and are they on the beach only? :sun

2: how far is the beach from the main resort because it looks quite a walk on brochure? i'm a lazy cow! lol

3: if there are any drinks making facilities ( tea, coffee,) in the standard rooms (interconnecting) or do I take a kettle? :hmmm

4: How often do the maids change the towels & beds as the brochure says twice weekly as does another resort but on reviews they said daily or every other day? only with 4 children we find the shower towels get filthy and soaked after each use! :yuck

5: weather 3rd wk in may? Just booked to go on the 14th of May for 2 wks me my husband and 4 children :omg

Hi kandice,

I'll try to answer your questions below

1:Are ice creams inc and are they on the beach only?

There is ice cream available in the restaurants after lunch and dinner, its actual ice cream cones you get from the beach bar.

2: how far is the beach from the main resort because it looks quite a walk on brochure? i'm a lazy cow! lol

From the top of the resort, ie reception, it takes approx 3 to 5 mins to get to the beach depending on how fast you walk. So no, not far at all!

3: if there are any drinks making facilities ( tea, coffee,) in the standard rooms (interconnecting) or do I take a kettle?

No tea facilities in the rooms. But all the bars have machines and you can take them back to your room (well you're not really supposed to but hey I was never stopped!).

4: How often do the maids change the towels & beds as the brochure says twice weekly as does another resort but on reviews they said daily or every other day? only with 4 children we find the shower towels get filthy and soaked after each use!

Our room towels were definitely changed every single day, the sheets may well have been too, at worst it was every other day! In fact ours were changed three times one night due to the little un chucking up everwhere lol. The staff were fabulous.

5: weather 3rd wk in may? Just booked to go on the 14th of May for 2 wks me my husband and 4 children

We went 15th to 29th May last year, first week the weather was nice during the day but chilly at night. The second week the weather was scorching during the day and quite nice at night.

Hope this helps

Hi there everyone,

I went to PP last year with my extended family, 15 of us in total. The holiday was awful (too many people!!). However the resort was FAB!!! The hotel was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. The place was soooooooooo great that I have booked to go again in May (just myself and my 8yr old).

I'm really looking forward to it. This time though I will be spending some money on insect repellent. Those mosquitoes really loved me!!

tracytreacle1,
When we was at palace last year we had a late checkout room booked already but was able to extend it till 01:00am in morning as my youngest daughter was ill, i suggest asking when you arrive, you probaly will be able to do as money goes straight to hotel, try paying in £ as you get a better deal, am going back my self in august can't wait
