got back from the town of pomorie on monday 25th and first of all many thanks to toonman for leaving me some beer, cheers mate!
right report time.
we knew the flight from newcastle was dropping off /picking up at manchester but left almost on time but 1 hour delay at manchester (which ment 2 hrs sitting on plane)
but arrived at bourgas airport but unlike last year thro with little holdup and on bus in about 1 hour.now pomorie is first drop off about 25 mins or so and at hotel st.george had been last year so knew this is a first class hotel.straight to room(about 1730 local time) room big and spacey plenty of wardrobes etc,but thatwonderful zagorka was calling so quick shower and off for something to eat(the wife makes me) down to the st george grill food excellent.then a wander around town looking for places that sell martini extra dry (for pauline, not me)bed around 2300.next day sunshine that means the beach, but a bit of a shock there are no brolly or beds on the beach and happily not too many people.so pick your spot no rush.the downside for me beach bar mostly closed(only one one the beach open) oh well!
now i have been sworn to secrecy about old pomorie but i will say if you like peace and quiet this is the place for you.
having read the board for a couple of years we knew it was the end of or near the end of the season but its a bit of a shock to see workmen dismantling the stalls on the shopping street.
prices we were getting 2.85 lev to the pound
beer bottle large cheapest 1.20 dearest 1.50 did the trips nessebar, bourgas, sunny beach
nessebar never changes good day out i would recomend the glarus 8 for good old british(english food ) eg roast beef and yorkshire pud 8.50 lev
bourgas not a great in my opinion very nice ,beach and park good tho.
sunny beach we hated it much too big and who had the stupid idea to give any clown a golf cart? a lace to avoid if you dont like noise and crazy people.
booked again for st george next year same time and if peter on the door reads this thank you too you and all the staff at the st.george.see you next year
I agree on your comments on Sunny Beach, getting too big too quick.
Too many pubs to drink dry now hence why I left you some.
Toonman
iwill put a review for the st george hotel but can i ask a question first (perhaps toonman can help)
on the hotel list you have st george complex which i belive to be a different place (just up the road from the st george hotel)
am i right and if so will you add st george hotel
happy mackem - pm me once you know the answer
Sorry- missed your request until now( was off in Berlin!) The two are indeed different. The St George is now being added to our reviews.
will put hotel review when st george appears in list

it is justy ( sic)you are snobs
That is hardly a useful comment Stuart - I know that Toonman has visited Sunny Beach on many occasions and has posted very positive comments about the resort in the past.
Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion - mine is that you could not pay me enough to induce me to go to Sunny Beach, which I see as a major blight on an otherwise beautiful coastline but, as you say, it suits many people very well. By your definition, I guess that makes me a snob - but I am aware that your definition is coloured by the fact that you own at least one apartment in Sunny Beach.....
Baldur
no im not a snob its just sunnybeach is too big too full of people tearing about on golf cart.mopeds etc.
maybe im just getting old and like peace and quiet maybe thats why i prefer scarboro to blackpool im just OLD
Living in Blackpool and having just come back from SB I don't think there are that many similarities!
sorry david 23
Mind you I have moved up in the world but I'm still down to earth and will never forget my roots.
As for Sunny Beach I do love it but it is getting too big too quick at present, mind you I like a lot of other places too.
My winter hols are for relaxing, lying on a beach or by the pool with a cool drink the summer in Bulgaria is for partying despite me being a old time Rocker
Toonman
No I should have said what I meant which was let Blackpool be Blackpool, Let Costa Del Sol be that too, let Provence be nice for us rich cultered southerners (joke), and let Sunny Beach be Sunny Beach a wonderful place to have fun if you like all that it offers.
My wife and I go to Kefalonia for the peace and quiet, we love it there, so we are all different, but it wasnt me having a dig at Sunny Beach in the first place, I respect it for what it is. I would like to make my peace with you all, sorry...put it down to a bad day. I have contributed fairly positivvely to this site more often than not. Stuart
sorry david 23
It's ok! Most people usually precede it with "Horrible and tacky like Blackpool"
Yours was one of the more kinder comparisons!!
Hi Stuart, Don't worry about it, we all have off days. At times we all struggle to come out with the right words.
Thanks everyone
