What time of the year would you be travelling demen?

Venice is very romantic at any time of the year.

Lake Garda is pretty special from Spring to late Autumn but tends to close up for winter.

If you give us more idea of your budget, how long and when you want to go we might be able to help you further, Italy is a fabulous choice for a honeymoon. :-D

we prefer summer time...about a week and the money maximum 3000 euro for all the cost of the trip...

You might find Venice too hot for a full week in high summer, even the Venetians leave then but Lake Garda would be perfect if you like mountain scenery with a sparkling lake to sail up and down.
There are castles to visit in the area, heaps of history. A trip into the Dolomites is to be recommended where you can appreciate the views even more by going up in the cable car.
The lake has its own cable car up a mountain, again with spectacular views, lots of very pretty walks and there are water sports on the lake also.
It is also possible to do a day trip to Venice if you can brave the summer heat, its an unforgettably romantic place and not to be missed but you will only get a taste in a day because its very busy with queues for the attractions.
Verona is also close by although we didn't go there as we spent our days going up and down the lake visiting the towns on its shores, eating wonderful Italian cuisine and trying some of the local wines.
We stayed in Limone with its narrow cobbled streets and flower covered buildings, cars are not allowed in the main parts and it was so romantic to stroll along the lakeside.
Your budget seems quite good for a week but be aware that Italy isn't exactly cheap.

Having been to the Caribbean many times I can honestly say that I would prefer the romance of Italy any day. I hope you find what you are looking for and have a great honeymoon.

I've just come back from Villa Pallero in Tuscany. Pretty luxurious place, it even had an indoor swimming pool!

We went to Sorrento for our honeymoon. Wonderful place. Our Hotel was at the top of the cliff with a private lift to the beach. Be careful as July and August can be very, very hot in Italy. Your Hotel must have air-conditioning.

what about Bibione... so beautiful and romantic,
Last month I went there. It is a good tourist place in Venetian coast. I was there and got all things to enjoy.I stayed in 'Hotel Bellevue', which I was booked from hotel-bellevue.it/. It provided me a very good service and I really enjoyed too from my heart, Its special and experienced staff give me very good service :cheers

Hi all

I am new to this site so apologies for crashing your thread :D

I too am planning a honeymoon in Italy, I would love to spend at least 2 weeks there and want to take in the Amalfi coast and Sardinia?

Any suggestions for an itinerary? I've just had one from italian Journeys but it was almost £6k!!! No way we can afford that.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey there!

We live in Hampshire, UK. We will fly to Italy. We can probably stretch to around £3,000.

Husband to be and I love good food, good wine, photography, he enjoys scuba diving too. We are getting married next May 1st.
We both love Italian food yes!!

We would love a holiday where we can stroll to nearby restaurants and cafes, maybe do some wine tasting, in Sardinia we would love to be nesr some gorgeous beaches. We would also love to see Pompeii, Capri. It would be great if my partner could do some scuba diving too. Generally we want a bit of relaxationa dn good food, as well as some exploring and places to take great photos.

thanks!!

Hi  we've been to Italy several times and love it! :)

If you want to visit Pompeii and Capri then I suggest a resort on the Amalfi Coast http://goitaly.about.com/library/bl_amalfi_coast_maps.htm We stayed in Sorrento but Positano is next on my list. In Sorrento we stayed at the Grand Hotel President and the views were truly spectacular. Positano is very similar but more sedate. You get the best views high up but always worth booking somewhere that has complimentary transport as it's a long way to walk up or down!

Pompeii is wonderful but personally I would skip Capri - not much to see and very, very crowded. Also, the cruise boats stop there so the harbour can be manic. We didn't get to it but Herculaneum is meant to be great and just recently my step-children climbed Vesuvius and loved it! :)

Sardinia, we stayed in the Baia di Nora area the first time but we go back next year and staying in a private rental on the Costa Paradiso. Alghero is also meant to be very nice. Sorry can't advise on scuba.

If you can get up to Stansted, then Ryan Air do some great value flights to Italy.

Italy is a fab choice, have a great honeymoon :tup

Hi

We had our honeymoon in Sorrento 14 yrs ago and having visited other parts of Italy ( all of which we loved bar Lido de Jesolo) our one answer is SORRENTO! :tup

We have stayed at the Admiral in Sorrento before and though not the poshest hotel it was so close to the sea with great views and in an idilic spot! It is a good price and will give you money to spend in your pocket. It gets good reviews from Thomsons --- give it a check out on Trip Advisor and you'll find our pictures too! :cheers

In Sorrento you will be able to visit Capri, Amalfi, Rome for a weekend (ahhhhh) , Pompeii and Ischai to name a few spots! :sun2

There are many great spots in Italy but if you want quaint, Italien, good site seeing, a great atmosphere and amazing food try Sorrento! As the song says - you go once you'll keep returning and will fall in love with this magical place :hols :hols

Thank you for your advice - it has been really helpful - I think we are now settled on 7 nights in Sorrento and the same on Sicily.

I will check out the Admiral - sounds ideal

Thanks again - will let you know how we get on
