We're off to Hong Kong mid November for a week and then returning in Feb as part of a far east tour. My son is studying there at the momet hence the sudden attraction in Hong Kong especially as mum wants to see her beloved son.He arrived in August and the weather was in the upper 90's with high humidity and a lot of rain. He said it was unbearable coupled with a number of typhoons its been wet on and off for the last 2 months. He reckons its changing now and is in the mid 80's and sunny ,bit like the Med.Theres plenty to do however most of it seems to be centred around alcohol, well there are 60 of em and they are all around 21 years old !!!!!!!!!!1

sorry for some reason I have missed your post till now.
We went to HK in July( not this year!) when the rainfall stats are slightly higher than August. We took waterproofs with us but didn't use them. Yes we did have several very heavy showers. On one of those times we were close to the Museum of History and decided just to go in. It was a great decision. We were there for hours! Another time we had taken a walk to the war cemetary opposite the race course to visit a relative's grave. My father had told us where to find it and his idea of "up a gentle slope" meant we were soaking with sweat by the time we reached the grave! I take it he went at a time when it wasn't so humid! We had been going on to one of the more upmarket shopping centres afterwards but I decided we couldn't go in looking like that. However, just as we left the cemetary a really heavy shower of rain started and by the time we reached the shopping area everyone looked the same as us!
Hong Kong is a place to just pick an area and wander around. As long as it isn't a typhoon you should be fine!
One piece of advice- to not overplan your time there. A trip to Victoria Peak is a must but it is definitely governed by the weather. If it is a nice day when you wake- go there!
