Hotel Cruiser.

Just a bit of information.
Anyone who is familiar with the la Carihuela area of Torremolinos will be aware that the Hotel Melia (not to be confused with the 4* Hotel Melia Costa) was demolished and in its place there is a new 5 * hotel being built called the Hotel Cruiser.

It is costing over 120 million euros and is expected to be completed in May 2010, although having been on the site last month, IMO they are going to have to shift some to meet that date "¦its reported that it will be the best hotel in Andalucia, when finished.

The original designed had a helicopter landing pad on top of the tower, but apparently they had some problems with Malaga Airport and the idea has been scrapped and they had to go back to the drawing board to design another model, which I like much better because of the glass dome.
I don't think La Carihuela needs a blinkin helicopter landing, on and off all day long, so I'm quite pleased about that.TBH.

I like the new design because it's cleaner (architecturally), more pleasing to the eye and they've lowered the height of the tower, but its still going to smother the surrounding apartment blocks and if I'm truthful, then I wish they had found somewhere else to build it, like Benidorm  but that's just because I don't want anything to spoil an area that is a Spanish village and purely from a selfish point of view..

Anyway, here's a little taste of what it will look like and some of you may be staying there in 3 years time who knows.?

This was the original design

And this is the revised plan.
They have kept the gardens/swimming pool and everything else in the original design of the picture above and just changed the tower design.

And this is where they're at, at the moment, or rather 4 weeks ago.
