When I went to Dublin for my birthday I e mailed the hotel and asked for a room overlooking the river.
I got an e mail reply back comfirming that they would do that.

Its not cheeky to ask and if you explain why I am sure there should be no problem with your request, so get them emailed.

Hi Rosie ... it's not cheeky at all. You may prefer a balcony with direct sunshine, others may prefer one in the shade. It's the same with preferences for high floors or low floors. If you don't ask, you may not get ! The hotel may not be able to guarantee your request, but most would usually do their best to meet your preferences/special requests.

I have to agree rosie. If you explain the situation to them I'm sure

they'll do their best to accommodate you I can sympathise with the

joint pain so go for it girl

Good luck Rosie. It's always worth asking. The worst they can say is 'no'. Most places try to honor guests requests.
