as we flew south along the west coast of Boa Vista the turquoise of the atlantic ocean was framed with the background of pure white sand with the hotel seemingly rising from the beach like a giant wedding cake, it's turretts and tiled domes glinting in the sunlight. As we banked to the left the full extent of the 7km long beach could be seen in all its glory. As we came into land the hotel was now on our left hand side and remained in view until we almost touched down. Don't let the proximity of the hotel to the airport put you off - there are limited flights and all are daytime AND they could not be heard from the hotel. The transfer was all of 5 minutes and we were greeted by happy, dancing staff to the soon to be familiar sound of salsa/african music. check in was well organised and effortless and our luggage was at our room before we were. the rooms are well proportioned with air conditioning, ceiling fan and electronic safe. A Television with plenty of channels in several languages is also provided if that's what what floats your boat. Meals were plentiful and varied and food available from 7am through until 10pm, drinks stations all around the hotel but beware the wine was poor and there was no other wines that could be bought. staff are fabulous, cheerful, helpful and only too pleased to address any problems. maintenance was a bit lacking in the public areas and I was told this was due to the necessity to import most everything that was needed.
Just a flavour of what it was like. BE WARNED there are plans to build accomodation for up to another 150,000 beds or so so if you want to experience it at it's best GO NOW. Plenty of activities to join in or leave as you wish - some included and some at extra cost for example motorised sports. any questions I will try to answer.
Great report Greekofile. My niece and her hubby are there at the moment, so it's good to hear your positive thoughts on the hotel. She did text after the first day to say that the place was lovely and the food was the best they'd experienced in any hotel over the years. At the time I was sat listening to the rain hammering down on the window whilst her text said she'd just come out of the sea as the sun was too hot so she was sipping a cocktail in the shade - oh bliss

I have just updated my website (see link below) with my review, pictures and links to some video slideshows of our stay at the Karamboa, Boa Vista in June this year
smashing site - saves me trying in my own inept way to upload photos and videos although I may still try to gain experience.
Would you mind putting a review of your stay in to the review section for others to read as big or small, good or bad just whatever you feel.
