Have you considered El GOuna... I havent seen ANY adverse reports on any of the hotels there, let your budget decide but shop around. Its an upmarket resort, hassle free, hotel set amoung lovely lagoons, choice of beaches, choice of upmarket marina or down town in evening, what more could you want!!!!! You dont even have to haggle for taxis, tuk tuks, bus 90p per week. You really dont want to go AI as it offers some fab eating places, but if you get a good deal AI thats good, but do venture out!!!!! A fab little haven.

Yes there are lovely hotels in El Gouna and I would agree about the restaurants. It is clean and a pleasure to walk round. The Abu Tig Marina is a sight to behold and for the tasties Calzone try Thomas's at the Marina.
Makadi Bay:
What used to be Carols Makadi, now Serenity Makadi - be careful of exactly what type of room is offered - you could end up with a 15 minute walk from reception/restaurants/swimming pool.

Domina Makadi - Italian and runs on Italian time. Common complaint about the food.

Le Meridien - great house reef. Again be careful which room as again you could have a long walk.

A common complaint from people staying in Makadi Bay is the distance from Hurghada. You are very much dependent upon the Hotel for entertainment and most of that is absolutely dire.
