I know this has been done previous years but as its pretty quiet on here and I am starting to get excited for this years holiday. How do you spend your first day? If you arrive early do you try to get some sleep or do you try to slip straight into Goa time? Ive tried it a few different ways and I think a short nap at some point in the day seems to work best for me.
This year we should get into Diabolical from Mumbai at 6am so I am hoping to reach Candolim by around 7ish, first thing is a cup of coffee on the balcolny talking in whispers in case people are still sleeping around us, then into the shower, I always take a couple of small hotel size shower gels to start me off then its time to get the cases unpacked. By this time the shops should be starting to open so we will go out and get some essentials, toiletries, powdered milk, water, vodka, coke etc and stop off somewhere for breakfast on the way back. Then....its either straight down to the beach or lie down in the room for a couple of hours sleep, which ever way I do it I have to be up for lunch and my favourite Goan Lunch...prawn curry and rice ate on the beach in the sunshine. Its also a must that we have to be on the beach for the sunset on our first day too, then its back to the room shower change and out for an earlish evening meal we always plan an early night but usually end up meeting up with friends from previous years and rolling back at some silly hour but sleep does come very easy that first night. Goa is like a comfortable old slipper you just slip straight back into it....Roll on Xmas
Tired usually!!!! Paula
we too land at about 6 a.m,but are always too excited to sleep,so normally unpack then down to the big banana for a spot of lunch, meet up with old friends, shop for essentials(vodka, honeybee, old monk and beer)back to appt.for shower and change and then to kimfaa for our evening meal, all the while planning an early night, which we know never happens.it`s all such hard work!!! Ooooh i can`t wait

for us, we are usualy one of the first of the plane then once we pick up the cases its straight to the hotel, fling the cases on the bed, quick freshen up then head of down to the beach for a kingfisher, any shack will do spend a few hours chillin, then wander back up calengute and back to our hotel chill out at the bar with a long cold soft drink , back to the room for a shower out to where ever for something to eat, then on to our friend harri the jeweler to phone home so relatives know we got here safe, wander around a bit look at all the shops back to hotel a brew and sleep xx
first day urmmm let me think ,, off the plane / taxi to hotel / chemist malaria tabs - little yellow pill in case you get Delly belly / then the important thing honeybee and maybe a few more/ bk to apartment unpack go sleep
Hmm first day, arrive at some silly time,TRY to get a little sleep(not possible, too excited)down to laze around the pool & have a small snack, back to apartment, shower then off to Inferno for dinner, meeting lots of friends on the way.after dinner cocktails at bending bamboo ,Then really need sleep.Oooh I cant wait now.March 11th with Qatar .Cant come soon enough.
Arrive about midnight this time, so straight to bed, up at crack of dawn, small supermarket round the corner for essentials than off to Claundinas for Coconut porridge and a foot massage to get rid of the flight legs. Chicken Tikka wrap for lunch and a tandoori kingfish for tea, can't wait.
Quite sad for me this year. Usually go and see my mates at Mo Jo's, but as it is no more, not sure what will happen!
Goangirl, has Mo jo's closed ?? we spent a few good nights in there when we stayed at the MD
Yes Shirley! John died last year, and the place has been ripped out. They were our dear friends and also had lots of good nights there. It's the only place they would let me do kareoke!! . Will be interesting to see what wil be there this year! Sorry.
Indian breakfast, row about unpacking, sleep , massage, drinks by Calangute steps taking yet more sunset photos, used to be Tibetan meal now Plantain leaf and early early bed.
First day - unpack, have a drink, down to hairdressers, have facial, manicure, pedicure/food leg massage for under £10. relax on the balcony, have a meal and bed, ready to hit the beach the next day.
Arrive 10.15pm so straight to bed ... or maybe get a couple of honey bees (medicinal purposes of course). Up next morning and hit the beach!! Staying at Lambana Hotel this year so don't know yet which shack we will be homing in on for the week. Return flight not till MN but have to be out of room MD so lots of last minute lounging!!
First Choice used to arrive very early in the morning and as we stayed in the south, we were usually at the hotel before breakfast.
We would unpack our essentials and go down for breakfast after which we would then go back to the room, change and then go down to the beach or stay within the hotel gardens. At some point during the day we would go to the room for a sleep, after which we would either have a meal in the hotel's excellent restaurant or go to our favourite restaurant just down the road from the hotel.
On our last trip, we flew with Monarch and arrived later in the morning. We were too late for breakfast, but weren't too worried as we were very hot, sticky and tired and just had a snooze for a while. In the early afternoon we went down onto the beach and spent the rest of the afternoon in one of the shacks that had only opened up a few days before. In the evening we had a meal in our favourite restaurant.
Usually arrive at the airport in Goa early morning. Either get a taxi to resort, or use the coach.
Check in to our hotel, hire a safety deposit box, and then try to dig out our shower gel/shampoo for a quick shower and get into something more comfortable.
Spend the first part of the day by the pool, have a little nap, and then head out to the beach after lunch.
Back to the hotel for another shower and a drink, get to know the hotel staff, then head out again for evening meal and a lovely walk taking in all Calangute/Baga.
Very tired by 10pm after not sleeping for over 24 hours, so back to the hotel for us for a much needed sleep.
taxi to hotel throw cases in room then straight to the bar and sit in the sun drinking beer exellantxxxxxxxxxxx
Have now remembered to put very high factor on and make sure I am in the shade as we are well used to it.
