How Hot?

Well obviously you have not been married very long, or your wife has not yet cottoned on...

My wife doe s not think.... she KNOWS... she WILL be obeyed !

Yes it will be very hot but it also depends where in Sharm. Some places such as up in Hadaba can be as much as 52 - 53 C in the shade, whilst other places that face the sea, especially anything northwards, may be around the 38 - 40 C mark.

Depends if you've got anything on your feet or not.

On the beach last year in sharm it reached 45c and broke the thermometer on the beach, which was hung in the trees. I am going in July and August this year so it will be interesting what the temps are, as on some weather sites it says June is the hottest time in June, but only drops a degree in July and August.

It isnt an uncomfortable heat, so long as you are protected well.

Is it? I always thought June was the hottest time in October. :?

I went to Sharm on the 31st July for two weeks in 2005, to the Conrad in the Ras Nosrani area of Sharm. The temps Swiss gives were about what we experienced, I think the hottest day was about 44c but humidity low compared with the UK.

Am going back there on 30th July this year and I'm hoping it'll be just as hot as it was two years ago!

Pippy :D

Pippy darling.... was nt that the day I visited you ?

Well, here right now it is 7 p.m. and 35.1 C. This afternoon went as high as 39.4 C and I do nt remember it being that hot last year at all.

So that is hot. Over 50 is really very hot. 45 - 50 is pretty damn hot.

But thank heavens Lyn you are female, and I bet you are not as thick as me. Which area faces north ? None really. But some parts of the southern end of Naama Bay, ( but more like up at Halomy ), or parts of Ras Oum el Seid, ( Maybe Ritz, Grand Iberotel, etc ) and parts of Pyramisa above Sharks Bay, face northish, as well as others, such as the southern end of Nabq Bay.

How to find north, east and west ? Well the sun beds on the beaches are usually pointing south.

Just to add it's also very hot at night.

All,

Thank you for your reply's. It's now booked were going top the Golden Resort AI.

Having read the hotel review, I noticed that there is a gap between April and September 2006 of posted reviews, hence the questions.

As for how long, 23 years, she still 'think's but has not cottoned on to the fact that I'm part deaf!

Just to put my penny's worth in about the temperature. My dive computer stopped working when it reached 62C in the sun. I had to put it in a tank of cold water to get it started again last year.

Still if you drink plenty of water, put plenty of sun screen on and get into the shade you should be fine.

Hi all, me again"¦

In just under a week we will be off for our first trip to Egypt. I've searched and I've read threads on this site, but I still have not found the answers that I'm looking for.

So can I be cheeky?

Currency, what's best to take? I have a small amount of Euro's, and some US $, left over from a recent trip. So far I have limited (£50 worth) of Egyptian £'s, and UK Stirling, does this cover just about everything?

Visa's - We are going for 10 Nights (Sharm El Sheikh) , do we need one? If we do why?

Tipping - How much is reasonable? Say for a hotel porter delivering our cases etc.? (I've read about tipping in UK £'s)

Many thanks,

At the begining of July this year our rep Rob told us it was 50c on the 3rd. The locals told us when we go back in 5 weeks in August it will be 55c, and 30s at night. it will be scorching and you will most likely be spending more time in the sea or pool as it burns very quickly. it is the hottest time June, July and August.

The locals say that April and October as well as the winter months are the busiest.
