Hi , I have never been before but am looking for a week in thassos town (only because I have read its good) but is the weather ok in september as I realise its north of the Island? ) I was looking for a sandy beach thats walkable to too? is that possible or are they all stoney. Also can anyone recommend a good friendly hotel near to the sea etc, we dont mind diy or package.sorry for the 20 question theme,

Just arrived back from our first visit to Thassos. It's the most Greek place we have ever been to. Sorry can't advise about the weather. We stayed in Skala Potamias but went right around most of the island. I think all the beaches were sandy. The one in Thassos town didn't look very big but it was the busiest 2 weeks of the year. Your best bet for some quick and good answers is http://www.thassos-forum.com. It's a very friendly forum, try the International section which is in English, the rest is German.
By the way Skala Potamias was great but Thassos Town looked good as well but a bit spread out.
