Twice this year I've had 5 days at home between holidays in Kalkan, Turkey.

Normally about 6-8 weeks for us Helen . Most of these are weekend breaks of some description but it got to the point where I would have something arranged around the time of every school holiday or bank holiday .

Now the children dont get particularly excited as I announce yet another (Now it tends to be moans of oh mum not another one ) I tend not to worry about things like school holiday dates unless they are coming with .

2 weeks to our next one to Venice . :)

Lyn, looks like you will just miss eifion and his missus. I believe they are there from the 6th-10th December.

Up until the last couple of years we've only gone away once and that was for a fortnight during the summer. However recently we've been in a position to enjoy a week away at Easter too which I'm hoping to do every year. We've managed to slot in a city break to Prague for New Year, this year and now that I'm collecting Tesco deals vouchers, we'll probably go for a weekend in this country during Feb half term.

So back to original question- the amount of time between breaks depends but I do keep counting down ;)

Too long really, last time I went away was February 2008 and apart from two continental day trips, that's been my lot. I am going away soon though (1 month, 3 weeks, 3 days time according to my ticker elsewhere) to Ireland, all booked and paid for (at last)

Too long...we dont have much luck with holidays.

We try to have at least 3 per year, a week, then a 2 weeker, then another week somewhere. We try to have odd weekends away witht he diving lark inbetween.

This year, as we haven't had as much money and dont get on much either...we had the one holiday to Thailand in March. We ended up missing Malta in August and although we have had a few weekend breaks in Scotland for the diving and one in Lanacshire, we are not going away again until the end of Jan 10 for a week liveaboard dive in Egypt.

Ideally, if we cold afford it, I would like to go abroad every 3 to 4 months. On the agenda for next year is Egypt, Malta and then either Gran Can or Lanza. In between, I want a few weekend breaks in Scotland.

Usually for me it is 2 to maximum 4 months between trips abroad, but interspersed are lots of weekend breaks, in Scotland usually, although sometimes we make it as far as London or Paris in half term. This year I have had 3 trips abroad, and 7 long weekends in Scotland. Just back from Egypt and already loking for the next trip, and have a long weekend in Edinburgh at the end of this month to look forward to. I don't know anyone personally at work etc who goes away as often as I do, so it's good to come on here and find like minded souls!!

My hubby is often called judith charmers on the building sites of london :rofl

I dont really know how we are managing to still go on so many with the drop in income we have suffered in the last year . I think I am just burying my head in the sand .

Me neither Pat . I do a cleaning job and I'm sure these people look at me and wonder how on earth we afford it on my job . :rofl

The more you have the more of an addiction it becomes!!
We are going away for the New Year and 4 weeks later going away again, oh my god, this year will have gone on holiday 6 times, all abroad, went to the Costa Del Sol in June and was away again 4 days after getting home, is that a record?
The reason we have managed so many was because hubby went on a 3 day week, how do you work that out. :que

We don't have any fixed times really, if i've got the time off and hubby's not too busy then we'll go somewhere. We've done really well this year and have been to Egypt, Llangamarch lake spa, Krakow, Cape Verde and a weekend in Cardiff! We are hoping to be able to get away in March next but no idea where!

Since the children have grown up we have always had a holiday in April/May, July/August and October/November. We have only just got back from 10 days in Fuerteventura so it will seem quite a while until our next holiday. I can buy up to 15 extra days holiday entitlement a year (same as unpaid leave really) from the company I work for though I usually just convert some of the weekend overtime work I intermittently do into a few extra holiday days off in lieu. This year we have had 2 fortnight holidays as well as the recent 10-day holiday. The downside is that I rarely take days off in between holidays and usually have to work in the week between Christmas and New year as well.

I have become seriously addicted to going on holidays! Got back yesterday from a weekend break in London, and have another one planned for January. Took advantage of a travel lodge sale earlier this year, and booked ahead!
Had a weeks's break in August in the Canary islands, four nights in a caravan park in Devon in October, and i'm in the process of planning a eurostar trip to lille, between Christmas and the new year. Hoping I will have enough in Tesco 'deals' to redeem against the cost of this!
Have already booked up two holidays abroad for next year,- May and July, and will hope to squeeze a few weekends here and there, in between.
I get restless after a few weeks, when I've been back from a break, and have to console myself with going out for meals, and planning our next break over some nice food and wine.
It's not doing my waistline or bank balance any good though!
Roll on December.

I've been back just a week after a holiday in Cuba and I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms, especially as the weather here is always so depressing. I haven't got anything booked yet but we're hoping to book maybe a long weekend away next summer and a nice holiday abroad next xmas.

6 holidays booked for 2010, April - September & on average only a month between each :tup

As I'm Swiss but living in the UK, I can count my stays back home as holidays.

My partner being Belgian, this counts as well I suppose ...

Basically, I would say that we have the BIG holiday (usually long-haul, in the Carribean or Asia) in January, then at least twice a week in Switzerland and once in Belgium (for me at least), plus the odd weekend here and there. It's never enough for my travelling appetite but budget limiting, I have to be happy with what I've got and it's already very nice !!
Next in the pipeline it's Christmas in Switzerland for 5 days and Dominican Republic, leaving on Jan 6th for 2 weeks !!!

You've hit the nail on the head Suncatcher.........my problem exactly!
I love getting away & am back only 3 weeks from Istanbul and 2 weeks before that had a fortnight in Crete (exceptional circumstances!)but I'm champing at the bit to get something planned before our 2 weeks in Lanzarote in March ---- far too long to wait! :(
I keep thinking if circumstances change and we can't travel as much in the future due to rising travel costs/availability or lack of personal finances at least I'll have lots of memories, but think more likely I'll have to go 'cold turkey' as this is a real addicton :yikes Forget the fancy house/flash car: I prefer holidays!!

I go abroad for a couple of days many times each year, but abroad is a little different for me as I live in southern Germany and can drive to Austria in around an hour, Switzerland in just over one and a half hours, Italy takes about three hours and the Alsace region of France is about two and a half hours away.
I visit the UK to see relatives three to four times each year though I don't really count those as holidays but I will take a week during one of those trips to have a holiday somewhere away from the family.
I like to take a long haul holiday once each year but this year the purchase of a new car took too much out of the bank balance so I will wait until next year, I did manage two long hauls last year so it's not too bad. So to answer the question of how long between holidays well, sometimes it's a few weeks other times a few months.
