How long does it take ? and rough cost ?
could you have two seperate daytrips ? and is it easy to return on an evening ?
cheers !!
Two minutes, dirt cheap, every half hour.
The Lido de Jesolo is some way North East but the bus trip to Sabioni ferry point (about 40 minutes, from memory) is cheap and regular. The bus stops at the ferry itself. You then have the splendid ferry trip right across the Lagoon with Il Serenissima rising out of the water as you approach. The first time I saw the Salute appearing, I was lost. Yes, I have returned since and stayed in the City.
40mins sounds about right i think
Punta Sabbioni (where the ferry goes from) is the green arrow in this map Google are way off with their Lido di Jessolo bit too!! Not only is the spelling wrong, but that is Lido di Venezia, and that is the one that is a short haul from Venice itself (I know people who got off there thinking it WAS Venice - they came back disappointed! )
The bus journey from Jesolo, depending on where you are staying, is around 30-40 mins as has been said, it's a no.5 bus, and makes limited stops, so make sure you are standing at the correct stop! If not, just pop up to the bus station at Piazza Drago to make sure You get 24hr day tickets that will cover you for both the bus and boat trips
When we went, we used to do two trips ... one early in the morning to Venice to see the sights, and then the second day, when we got to Punta Sabbioni, we would get the ferry on the right hand side and go to Burano instead (beautiful island!) .... then onto Torcello, and Murano, before heading across into Venice, getting off at the top end of the town, and walking our own way through ..... can be a good adventure! Those 24hr tickets cover you for all the public (ATVO?) boat services, so take a circular round venice and down the grand canal, it's a nice trip! (avoid the expensive water taxis)
Anyway, enough gibbering for one post Hope that helps!
Sorry for getting the map wrong. It was late at night when I did it.
Cider - youve got mail
Google Earth / Maps are usually really good, Harriers, it's unlike them to be wrong!
