A bit. I recently had a mini break last month up to Scotland and stayed in Dumfries and Galloway, visiting the atypical Isle of Arran (I know Ayrshire), Portpatrick, and going up the Rhins of Galloway heading to the Corsewell Lighthouse. Was inspired to visit this area from the ferry to Northern Ireland.
In the past in regards to Scotland, I have stayed in Ayr, and near Oban a good few years back. I have visited Edinburgh with a friend.
As mentioned I have been to Northern Ireland, but tend to visit County Fermanagh as there a lot of gems IMHO ie, Drummoney Falls, Cliffs of Maghos viewpoint, Lough Navar, the Loughs near Kesh. Also stopping for a walk near Lough Neagh. I have visited Giants Causeway but I think I would have preferred to visit before visitor's centre.
Not seen much of Wales, I have stopped in Prestatyn and near Mold, but that's on route to the ferry port, so was an overnight.
I live now in Co Durham, I used to live in East Sussex (near Kent) so I have visite d the Lakes, Northumberland, down to Scarborough, Whitby etc.
Holidayed in Cornwall a couple of years ago but I PERSONALLY prefer somewhere less busy (I main holiday September) but that is my personal taste.
We did Cornwall late September, busy but not overly busy .... maybe got lucky!
(Well I sail into Northern but cross over the border but anyway)
I am thinking of traveling around the UK more this year, instead of abroad. What city breaks would you recommend? and any hotels that do not feel like 'same old, same old'? something that has more of a sense of place? I would be traveling with my husband, but happy to go on my own for a weekend.
Thanks all!

As it's you and your husband these UK Adult Only Hotels might be worth looking at to ensure some peace and quiet wherever you go. There are hotels and B&Bs all over the UK.On 21st February 2020 at 11:45am, cvascotto said:
