Err you cant have it installed m8, or at least not by SKY
You apparently have to sort it on the QT.
So the cost of the the packages would be the same as the UK. Check out other posts m8 they go in to it in some detail.

If it's a holiday property, have the dish and box installed and tell everyone to bring their own card. I've rented lots of villa's where this is the system and even when we didn't have a card it wasn't a problem.

EVERY card is locked to the individual box , I moderate on another forum about sat tech so this I can assure you that this is the case.You cant simply bring your card and plug it into another SKY box , it needs to be paired to an id unique to the box.There is a way using other boxes non sky and complex hardware and software , and other ways that are prohibitively expensive to most.

If anyone wants to know about uk sat abroad , or how to get it , I would suggest a more serious group on the subject , sats uk forums , and that isnt one that I mod for though.Youll get more people asking the questions , more answers wrong and right , but worth learning about before a dick turpin scenario from an installer.

Hi webb, what you are saying about cards being paired to a box is certainly true but there are some anomolies. With ANY working card in ANY working box you will be able to receive ITV1,2and 3, CH4 and CH5. You will also be able to receive most of the $ky channels. In fact the only channels that you will not be able to receive are the $ky sports channels and the $ky movie channels (sometimes known as the premium channels)

hi brodev, It dont work on the algarve we have a property there and have sky installed but dont get the sky channels you are saying just basic itv1 bbc1 & 2 channel 4 & 5 and maybe a few music channels & a sports channel, dont they call it freeview. Am interested to know what u can get and what u cant, any knowledge would be a bonus. Regards Jayjan

I am sorry Jayjan if I have given the wrong impression.What I meant was that cards can be swapped between boxes and only the premium channels (sports and movies) will be lost. This only applies if the card had them enabled. In other words if you take a card from UK with you to the Algarve it will decode whatever channels it could decode in UK except sports and movies

brodev, That follows what the man from Sky told me when he installed our sky+.

He said we could take our card on holiday and use it to receive channels and the only channels we wouldn't be able to get are the sports and movies.

Well I for one was ecstatic at the thought of no sports channels!!!!
