i think that will be ok, go to tansas and do a shop for meats bread buiscuits milk pop and beers. take cereals with you for breaki. fill small bottles for the kids to drink through the day when you are out, these are quite expensive at the pool side. make some rolls crisps, yogurt for lunch, we also took a few packets of noodles, some dairy lee cheeses for my grandaughter and a box of wine for me. then have a nice enening meal, the bar across the way from you called johnnys has a sign outside saying
michelle - £1,000 for one week should be more than enough! there are only 3 of us admittedly but we take £1200 for two weeks - we only eat out once a day (night times) but drink copious amounts lol!!
the places near to anastasia are good in the main and you will get free kids meals and free drinks or at least bogof (no offence!)
the four of us and the lads are 13 & 11 can eat for 40 quid 2 courses inc drinks.
anastasia have this card where you put money on it and use it in the complex. i do think their food/drink is dear, but it depends how lazy you are reallly! if you go out for brekkie/luch etc its cheaper.
hope that helps and hope you have a great time, and we might bump into you.
PS we are at anastasia from the 13th Aug for 2 weeks
Thanks for the replies, have had a right bad week, our van broke down and needed repairing and then our dog was taken ill today and needed emergency vet treatment, still undergoing tests so have no idea the overall cost involved, feel like phoning FC and cancelling now, its becoming a big financial headache this holiday lol.
Thing is Michelle you cancel now and you still lose money and have no holiday. We all need a break and my advice would be go there enjoy it and try to forget about back home. We really couldn't afford to go this year but we're going anyway, may have to scrimp a bit here and there, I may even have to cut my Efes consumption . You have a great time and hope the mutt is fine!
we had money in building society for holiday and just thought sod it! by the time end of july comes we will be in desperate need of a holiday after our stresses so still going!
going on the 31st and my god are we ready for it! we aren't taking as much spending money as we normally do but vodka is cheap in the supermarkets and we have a good balcony so will make our own entertainment for most of the night lol!!
enjoy - these last few months have taught me that life is too short to worry about everything, got to have some fun!

Well things have taken a turn for the worse, Mollie is very poorly and was admitted into animal hospital this morning, what are we to do, she is a member of our family after all, so I have had to dip into our holiday spending money in fact its probably going to cost the whole lot, ive spoken with FC just now and they said we would lose £980 if we cancel, but that we can sell the holiday and they charge £50 per person name change. Its 6 weeks today till our holiday and I have no idea where we can get spending money from again as well as dog kennels and airport parking etc, I cannot ask family for money, everyone is in the same financial situiaton right now. I have hol booked for next year to Menorca and asked if they could swap the balance over, but no they cannot do that as its too near to departure. I dont suppose our holiday insurance covers dog illness does it lol - sorry but I need to laugh or I will cry.
Anway i was basically saying you could try on ebay but i doubt anyone would pay you full price for it plus the admin fees as they could just go into a travel agent and do that really, also people on ebay are generally looking for bargains.
I know the longer you leave it to cancel the more you will lose as it will keep increasing.
Cant you get a payment scheme from the vet or anything , im sure you have thought of all of this but seems a terribble shame if you end up losing all this money.
The holiday now is actually a lot more than the price I paid for it, we paid £1872, think it prices up now nearly £3k as I booked it 13 months ago so someone would be getting a good deal.
Vets will take 50% after their treatment is carried out and the rest can be paid over a few months, we have been quoted £340 just for her xrays and sedation today, then if an op and over night stay etc is needed it will make it near on £1k, never had pet insurance as both our dogs are getting on in age and the monthly premium was so high and we had always been so lucky with their health, never mind I cannot think about that now.
We have a few days to decide what to do and hopefully in that time we find out the full extent of the vet bill.
WOW expensive isnt it, glad i dont have pets!
Hi I dont know if its any help but we booked our holiday in April 08 for August 09 and it was cheaper about £2300 and is now £3600. We dont have any spending money saved so have managed to get a mortgage free month - wahay £1000. We have worked out that we will save about £250 on not having to do the weekly shop in this Country for a couple of weeks and what with petrol probably another £100 so all in we have £1350 for 5 of us at B+B so it might be light lunches!
I am going to give our insurance a call today to see if we are covered, we are going to have to cancel our holiday, the vet bill is £1,500 for the operation and after car the dog requires (op is taken place this morning). Its really angered me that FC couldnt be more helpful, we have a holiday booked for next year to Menorca with them, I asked if they could transfer the money we would lose over to that holiday and they wont entertain this, they will be able to sell my Turkey holiday on so easy and get the money back and probably more, fingers crossed insurance covers although its a big shot in the dark.
The problem is there is nothing FC can do excpet advise you of there booking conditions i know it seems harsh to you but if everyone wanted to cancel a holiday close to departure they would end up with loads of holidays left. There is no gurantee they will sell it again therefore have to cover themselves and yes if they do sell it they have made a nice tidy sum i agree but there is the chance they wont.
Once you get to within 10weeks of departure the cancellation fees change from just losing a deposit to certain % thats why you cant transfer it over, they would refund the difference and you could pay it off your other holiday.
I think your only 2 options are cancel and lose all that money which im guessing wont even be an option or try to sell it somehow.
Hope you sort something out.
Well fingers crossed but looks like we are covered, just phoned our insurance (Natwest) and they are sending a claims pack out, as long as the vet can confirm that the operation and treatment was to save the life of our dog then we can claim our holiday back with the exception of £250 excess. I am awaiting confirmation from the vet to say wether he will write a note saying it was critical for treatment, then I can call FC and cancel. Now what do I do, if I cancel today FC would pay me back £808, so do I then claim the other £1k back that we have lost on the holiday? or do I take nothing back from FC and then claim £1,800 back from the insurance?
You have no option FC will automatically pay you back what they can and you claim the difference from your insurance.
Good luck with it all .
Thankyou, its been such a stressful 24 hours, Its not really hit home yet that we aint going on holiday now though
