Discussions regarding holidays in Goa.
I'd still go for one a week in Calangute. It's central and if you alternate between Calangute and Candolim, people will get mixed up when and where.

At least everybody knew Lazy Days on Wednesdays!

I know what you mean Roma. I have to say my main worry would be that two a week will mean a smaller amount of folks at each and to be honest, people are more comfortable in a larger group. As far as I know, although we had Mai Thai and Lazy Days, only Lazy Days was really successful. With less going next year there may not be enough to have 2 meets. But I can see both sides of the argument so will just go with the majority. :)

2 meets a week is fantastic in an ideal world IF people turn up, but they wont, and thats were I am coming from. I walked into a meet last year and there was only me and my OH there so we left.
A few people want 2 meets but after their 2 weeks holiday is done who is going to attend 2 meets a week? Not a lot of people I dont think, which is unfortunate, but thats how things are. Of course I want there to be 2 meets a week, but I wont say that just cos its suits ME, I think its best to look at the bigger picture.
As you say Fiona, best to go with the majority which will be 2 meets. I will make a point of going to at least 1 anyway.
People always say they will be there blah blah blah and they dont turn up, biggest disater was probably Molly Malone's on St Patricks night when literally dozens of people said they would turn up, but didnt, and it was down to the "old regulars" go get together.

Although we have yet to make it to a meet, I would say keep the 2 meets Calangute/Candolim. Yes we are guilty of not turning up on St Pat's night, but we had so many friends and family staying on a long term basis to meet up with we just ran out of time, 2 weeks just wasn't long enough to fit everything in. We are back for Christmas and hopefully will make it to one this time. For the meet in Candolim could I suggest Viva Bar, it's big enough to accommodate a large group of people and the prices are good, plus it's purely a drinking bar so not taking up diners space.

Yes we are guilty of not turning up on St Pat's night

DebnPete that is understandable. Everyone has so much to squash into a 2 week holiday. If people cant manage 1 meet how on earth will they get to 2 :que But maybe if there are 2 meets it gives people more choice. But personally I would rather have 1 meet with 10 people than 2 meets with only 4 or 5 there.

plus it's purely a drinking bar so not taking up diners space.

I think that is very, very important.

nothing has been decided yet. I'm keeping the vote going for a week as so few log on regularly at this time of year.
Personally, as Candolim and Calangute are so close together I would have thought that if someone wants to go to a meet, then it is not that a big deal which location it is. :que
I wonder if we do go for 2 meetings- one could be the main meet and one could be an extra one? That way we have a better chance of having more members attending?

Yes thats a very good idea Fiona.
Personally I think the main meet should be in Calangute. Its the most central point, especially if travelling from Arpora or Baga.

I can see the reasoning behind both suggestions, but my choice would be to have one a week,Calangute, any night.

I have not been to any meets before as fairly new to this forum but do like the idea of 2 per week.

I have to say that at the moment, there is barely enough interest for one meet, let alone two. I have tried to highlight it as you can see on the forum. I think it looks as if we should go for one meet a week but perhaps have an unofficial 2nd meet point for those diehards where one is not enough :) . This second meet may well be busy in November, as that appears to be the busiest month but going by past experiences few will attend in the long run. I'll look at the suggestions for venues and then start a new thread, locking or deleting this one.
For the main meet I will nearer the time have a thread for the coming month where people can indicate, if they want, which meet(s) they are hoping to attend.
With one meet, there are likely to be more attending and less awkward than if you turn up and only one or two others are there. From a safety point of view this is probably the best way forward as well.
Although we will stick to only official meet discussion on the forum I am not against a further meet during the day in one of the beach shacks. If you'd like one it would be better if you could discuss perhaps by pm or by using the chat room at the bottom of the page to come up with a venue and day. I know there are a group of you who may well be interested in setting one up so will leave it to you- just pm me if and when you have come to a decision and we will promote that one as well. Hopefully this will be a compromise that will work well for everyone in the end. :)

We have never been to a meet before, would go to one a week either in Calangute or Candolim, not to fussed as to the choice of night, make sure the bar has not a quiz night on as they seem to have become very popular. looking forward to putting faces and names together. :)
