Sorry it was too long in coming but have been very busy
Flew with My travel we took off on time and only took 8.5 hours which was great. This was spoiled when the taxi driver couldn't find our hotel so we were delayed a bit by that but not for too long. Picked the wrong queue at immigration at the airport and took forever to get through. I think she had just started that day. We arrived at the hotel around 7 o clock and they gave us a room straight away which was a bonus even though the room was not very good but this is all explained in my hotel review.
We decided that we would not do much for the first week and maybe travel a bit during the second. The first week we went to Oceanic shack most days and just chilled on the beach it was only 2 minutes from our hotel. This was the best shack we had used all the time we had been to Goa. I did my usual half hour on the beach every day then went for a walk. One day I walked from the beach past Ingo's market before I realised how far I had gone, I was away for about 3 hours and got a telling off when I got back for being so long. Walked down to Calangute a few times then walked back along the beach which was fun as well as a hassle as I wasn't interested in going in a shack! After about 5 days I was feeling a bit lethargic so I stopped taking my Malaria tablets and was fine after that.
The second week was the same as the first, we were going to do all sorts but couldn't be bothered once we had got up and had breakfast. The fact that Tracy was bad for 2 days didn't help. Visited Anjuna market and sat in the beach bar listening to the music all day which is one of my fave things to do in Goa. Spent about 10 minutes in the market and 5 hours in the bar. Also went to the Saturday market (by taxi this time) and had pie, mash and mushy peas. The music wasn't as good as previous times but met Wicked Chris and her hubby so had a few drinks with them.
Also walked down to Candolim for the first time and had a mooch at the shops then walked back along the beach. Really that's all we did during the days. Evenings we ate mostly at restaurants. Favourites were in preference.
1- Soumyens Kitchen
2- Over the Flames
3- East meets West
4- O Pescador
The fillet steak at Soumyems was gorgeous and my favourite at OTF was Murg Tariwala.
Also had a lovely Sunday dinner at a place called Kindman's which was opposite Eclipse bar on the Baga to Calangute road. Had nice breakfasts at Infanteria in Calangute.
Some of the pubs we used were White Elephant, Eclipse and Cocktails and dreams on Tito's road. This was a good place as you can watch the world go by on one of the stools at the front. Molly Malones was very quiet when we went in there so didn't stay long.
Met up with Wicked Chris and Pam7 in Redonda but that was one of the nights Tracy was poorly so I didn't stay long. Also went to lazydays on the second Wednesday and had a drink with Goangirl and her husband, in fact we had rather a lot of drinks that night.
Overall a nice chilled out holiday and we both really enjoyed it but that means a boring trip report sorry everyone.
Don't think we will bother going again for a while though until they get their act together and try to make the holidaymaker instead of just the money welcome which is a shame for the genuine people who are losing out because of the greedy taxi drivers and sellers
Hey Hullsmoggy! I don't remember us having a lot to drink! Didn't see you the rest of the hols! Think i had hangover for 2 days!!
Thanks for the report. It is indeed very easy to go to Goa and do almost nothing. We do it all the time.Never feel guilty about it either.
Reminded me to do my report too!
Hulls I agree the Oceanic is the best shack on Baga Beach. Its the lads, they are fantastic and nothing is too much bother for them, they will do anything for you. So no Goa next year, where do you plan trying instead?
Hulls I enjoyed your report very much , just like you and Gemma I use the Oceanic regularly , I absolutely love the lads and will always go back there , but I do think Baga beach is becoming polluted, too many deisel fumes now, spent 6 days of our recent holiday on quieter beaches all of which were lovely , however we will always visit our friends at the oceanic as soon as we get to Goa
ann
Good report, where did you stay ? sounds like I might have bumped into you in Bar Eclipse at some point as I was staying above there.
Gemma still deciding where to go as I am going to New York for my 50th birthday next April so that will take most of my holiday budget for the year
Hey Hullsmoggy!! You told me it was your 30th!!
