A load of us due to descend on Hurghada at the end of November, but as there are some non divers in the party, I wondered what Hurghada offers for them and also what decent trips or excursions you can go on from there?
Does it offer anything good for teenagers? We are staying at Grand Hotel.
Many thanks for your replies.
Assume that you are going with Mytravel so have attached a list of the trips as of April this year. We only go for a week at a time so tend just to do the boat trip for the snorkelling but a couple of years ago did the trip to Luxor (much hotter than Hurghada) and this June took the day trip to Cairo for the pyramids/Cairo museum (Tutankhamun mask etc). This was an extremely long, tiring day leaving at 1am and getting back about 10pm. Bear in mind the Tutankhamun exhibition will probably be in London not Cairo by the time you go though there will still be more exhibits than you could hope to look at in the time available.
Both Grand and Grand Resort have animation during the day and entertainment at night and you can use pools etc in both hotels. There is a gym at the Grand (v small) and internet cafe in Grand Mall.
Can also recommend getting a taxi to downtown Hurghada, Dahar to see life there and hiring the hotel limousine to take you to El Gouna. Dahar is dusty and dingy but I love it and El Gouna is pristine and immaculate with expensive boutiques, good restaurants and a habour full of yachts = two extremes!

Thanks..sounds great for my son aged 15..plenty for him to do then. We are travelling with Going Places. I will be doing a lot of diving and a little exploring..i always try to have at least one trip excursion. Last time in Egypt I did Jerusalem and Israel. I was hoping if possible to try and get across to Jordan to the lost city of Petra but maybe we are too far away in Hurghada.
Hi Val, we also went with going places and had the same trips as Caro, though they no longer do the Free party night as they said to many booked and never used to turn up. We went on the two worlds trip which was out of this world, staying in the desert with bedouins until late and then snorkelling around the reefs the next day though there were no dophins about the day we went , you will love hurghada though and the Grand is really a lovely place to stay.
There is plenty to do in the town and as said downtown is good as well. You'll find macdonalds etc. Papas bar for your football. There is also a variety of night life.
