hi one week costa brava AI 5th october flights ryan air prestwick -stanstead -girona return £39.00 X2 =78 7 nights 3star AI £210 total 288 travel agent want 390 - 440 with no transfers on the same flights , yes it pays I have booked it ,search your flights early cheers, maxie
Hi Maxie .... Prestwick/Stansted/Gerona ?? Couldn't you have flown direct with Ryanair, or would that have considerably affected fares for your chosen dates ? I know from previous posts that you are a wheelchair user, and I am just wondering about the possible inconvenience of having to arrange wheelchair assistance at all three airports.
We paid £408 per week for an apartment and £788 for our flights. And now I have found I could have got an apartment over the road from ours cheaper and with a washing machine!!!!
Thats cheap for peak time. This is for a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children.
We could have got the flights cheaper with BA, but I didnt make an instant decision and they went up £150 over night!!!!
I was going to pay £1,097 for flights with first choice, but decided to have a quick look around and a laugh at the price with BA so I nearly fell off my chair when I saw it so cheap there. Although we arent flying with BA its Iberia Nostrum.
there are still alot of people out there who think BA are still expensive, They are not, and often compete price wise with easyjet and ryan air etc, sometimes you pay a little bit more but you often get the money back from the free drinks/food (alcohol included!) and also from the fact that you dont have to transfer form an airport which is miles away from where you want to end up (the budget airline classic, London stansted is a prime example of this!) ANyway im going abit
Jessop for somebody like me stanstead airport is great, as is gatwick The pain airport is heathrow, I advoid the place if it had the plague. Luton is another one I advoid, its all to do with trafic and the time it takes to get their and back. I took somebody to heathrow in the afternoon it took 6 hrs to get their and back from SE London. gatwick 1 hour, 1 hour 20 mins with busy roads, standstead the furthest airport from me can do in 30 mins with empty road otherwise 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins.
Good to see you again mike!
hi david ,yes it made a 40 pounds difference to the fare, gives me an extra flight, which I love and pick up a relative at stanstead. returning direct to prestwick was same price maxie PS you know me David a tight scotsman lol
£560 1/2 board for 2 for 16 nights, transfer in mallorca £35 return grand total around £850. tour op wanted 475 each per week for 14 nights(same hotel) thats 1900 plus transfer of £30 for two so add the taxi fare to gatwick total is around £2000, so i saved £1150 and had 2 extra nights. now since i smoke i brought back 100 x50g old holboln (cost around £250 normal uk price around £1000) and my wife got 10 cartons ciggies (about £205) normal uk price £500+ so i saved about £1045 so holiday cost
£-195 now thats a bargain. so im of again in october self catering 10 nights for 2 total £170 plus flights for 2 £135(easy jet) plus transfers total around £400, now put the ciggies back into play and this holiday will cost £-645 at this rate i'll be rich!
Thinking of looking at the Canaries, the end of September, where Alpha Rooms gives us a great price on accommodation, it is deffinately a struggle finding a decent price for the flight (overall will end up working out about 415) without airport transfers. With Portland it is about 380.
So yes, unless you want to stay in a shed for 2 weeks, your best of sticking with the Travel Agent, where you are insured etc.
To be honest it's the opposite in my opinion.I can find very good cheapish flights but the hotels are asking for stupid money in August.
I do always book on-line mainly with Portland thus getting a discount.
My main criteria is using a local Airport, Humberside, so I expect to pay more than when using the cheap airlines at other places.
I suppose that we also have our holidays on popular dates for other OAPs (the beginning of May and November) thus avoiding school holidays, so there are not so many bargains around.

Flight will always be dear to the Canaries as no no frills operators go there.

to be honest, i've also looked at Majorca (where i thought we could get a good flight) but to no avail also.
Alpha rooms is good for accommodation, the price you see is the price you pay for the room.
HI THERE,register with the low cost airlines and spend a short time eah day on say 3/4 airline sites and check if flight are on offer for your dates then use something like a hotel search ,look in this web site for address, and of you go happy hunting, maxie
Thanks for your post of 27/7. We actually need all the luck in the world right now so please keep wishing! My son broke his arm on Friday evening. Been at the hospital since - just got back. He had to have an op to fix it. Although he's in a cast, he still has to go for an x-ray within a week to check if the bone is fusing. If it isn't we have to cancel our very longed for holiday to Almeria on the 9th!!!!
Stress!!!!!
Marcus - you sound like you have a great deal for 2006 - do you mind divulging where abouts you are staying??
Done some great trips so far, and just booked 4 nights in Torremolinos for 2 B/B in January (chill after xmas), which has came in at just under £152 , can't go wrong at £76 each.
I would go away once a month if "her indoors" would take the leash off.
Cheers to Easyjet,
Robby
all the best and good luck.
Thanks for your kinds words - he's 10 actually, so as you say, has every chance of healing quickly. Friday is D-Day, that's when he goes for his x-ray to see if the bone is fusing or not. Eek! The nerves are doing wonders for those last few pre-holiday pounds, so let's hope and pray that all is well and we can go.
Thanks
Sue
Sounds like there are some really good DIYers out there!
