Hi We are due to go to the iberostrar diar el andalous this september and after reading you quiery decided to check out the hotel. (We visited Tunisia in march and noticed that the hotel is being refurbished and after talking to the security were told it would be opening in May/june.) Thomas Cook cannot confirm if it will be open until November as there is a Block on bookings. We have been told that sometimes this means that the company are re negotiating more rooms and prices!!! Thomas Cook are going to let us know what is happening as we could be told only a month before that this hotel is not available. We are not happy if this is the case as a week before your email we paid the full amount and nothing was said as to why no booking are being taken till November the winter season. Any more news would be gratefully received.

Sorry I did not reply sooner, I gave up checking this thread after I received no replies.

I spent a month contacting Thomas Cook once/twice a week trying to get an answer about the hotel being closed. Each time they gave me a different story, during one telephone call I was told the hotel was closed and was asked to pick a different hotel. I never received confirmation about the hotel change so telephoned them again only for them to deny the hotel was closed and even said there was no record of me even contacting them on that day.

Yesterday (7 July 2011) I finally got confirmation by telephone call that the hotel is closed and was offered an alternative hotel (Iberostar Averroes) which I accepted. I received a letter confirming the closure today (8 July 2011).

Overall I am not impressed with Thomas Cook customer services but with their holidays being £200+ per person cheaper than Thomson/First Choice it looks like I am stuck travelling with them.

HI Yes Thomas Cook have finally responded and admitted the hotel is closed (which we all thought) I was told it was due to low bookings and I even emailed the head office and they confirmed this also. Hope you have a good time and I wonder if you would let us know what the hotel is like We are having a refund so will look around for something else. Regards Doris
