Decided to go back to Turkey this year. Have been previously to Olu Deniz twice which was wonderful.
Looking at either Icmeleror or Kusadasi. Our priorities are:-
1. Good Beach ( no pebbles)
2. Good beach bars for lunch etc
2. Being able to walk along promenade or next to beach during evening
3. Lots of bars and restaurants next to or on the beach for evenings
4. Good selection of boat trips from local beach
5. Good selection of bars and different nationality restaurants
6. Reasonable priced hotels on beach front or close
Would really appreciate your views as can't make my mind up -And if anyone can recommend a particular hotel/or apartment in either resort this would be great.
many thanks
Wendy
Having stayed in both resorts(Icmeler twice), then Icmeler would be the one to tick most of your boxes. If you scroll back through this forum to Jan 20th you will find the Discussion on Icmeler which will give you a good insight to the resort and what it has to offer. You can walk along the beach to Marmaris and take a water taxi back, this facility also goes round to Turunc. Hotels then I would recommend Club Petunya and also Babadan Apartments not to be confused with Babadan Hotel. Hope this goes some way to helping you in your quest.

Kusadasi has a prom but you have to travel to the beach which is loverly, Ladies beach, Silver beach.
You cant go wrong with Icmeler, loads to do, lots of trips, easy walking and a nice prom along the beach.
ive stayed in all 3 resorts you mention olu and icmeler quite a few times and much prefer icmeler over kusadasi, we couldnt cope with the megga hassle in kusadasi it drove us crazy, i know things have calmed down since we went there, but icmeler has everything, plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc but the beach is a little bit shingly. but i prefer olu deniz to icmeler purely on the scenery, so im sure you will make the right decision, read up on the resort reports as everyone likes different things
hi iv never been to kusadasi but icmeler is lovely, the beach is clean no bricks, but its not pure sand , its a mixture of sandy gritty type stuff, lovely though, there is plenty of resturants along the prominade, rite on the beach lots of sunbeds, the bar staff will bring you cold drinks and food all day, there is lots to do at night, fun pubs, quiet restuarants lovely walks loads and loads of shops, you really will have a fantastic holiday ic icmeler, we always do ,
no contest icmeler is best
I agree...Icmeler always wiil get my vote
"Travelling" to a sandy beach means 10 minutes on a dolmus to Ladies Beach if you're staying in the town centre, or if you happen to be staying at Ladies Beach it's a 10 minute walk. Ladies Beach is self-contained with loads of beachfront restaurants and live entertainment. Long Beach which is 15/20 minutes on the dolmus is 12 miles of soft sandy beach, also with beach bars to have lunch in.
The hassling which goes on in all resorts has been clamped down on in Kusadasi last year and this year there will be zero-tolerance from the new Kaymakam.
(PS. Although this says its my 1st post, I've been a member of HT for a long time but haven't logged on for ages. Couldn't remember my log-in this morning but it's nice to be back on.)
Icmeler definately. In Icmeler the people are friendly, restaurants are good and food is excellent.
Went to Kusidasi about four years ago - if it had been my first experience of Turkey I would never have returned. I found the people to be surly and unfriendly. Restaurants weren't very good (nor was the food). Cruise ship berthed and prices immediately increased. Ladies beach was so full that it was impossible to walk between the sunbeds (one turn over - all turn over). Hassle was incredible.
Try Icmeler - I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
