The simple answer is YES. Heineken for instance and Becks.
Hi there can you also buy budweiser?
can you tell me what sort of prices these imported beers are? i like to try local brands though - which are the best of these and how much are they in the supermarkets? a friend told me you can only buy alcohol on your first day and must produce your passport, but i have not heard this before - is it true?
thanks!

No this is not the case, you can buy it anytime without a passport.
Just got back from Tunisia and we went to 2 supermarkets that stock alcohol and neither would serve us alcohol.

Would it have been anything to do with Ramadan and not seliing certain items ? i would be interested to know the reason why they declined to sell alcohol as i am going next month and would like to be able to buy a bottle of either spirits or a few beers to keep in the room to have a drink of an evening sat on the balcony . Would it be best then to buy at duty free
We've had this discussion before on HT. In my experience supermarkets stop selling alcohol during Ramadan though other posters have said they have found it readily available. Some places won't sell it to Tunisians on a Friday either, though they will to Europeans. I remember when the little Monoprix in Bou Jafaar, long closed, used to take you behind a curtain to buy wine or beer.
Incidentally Ramadan ends around 21st of September or thereabouts so those going after this won't be affected.
Llindy, don't buy imported spirits in Tunisia as they are extremely expensive; stock up in Duty Free. Local wines and spirits are fine to buy.

One other thing is that you are not allowed to take drink of any description into your hotel we were pulled up about bringing water in and we hired a fridge and we saw a lot of people being stopped.

We stayed at the Royal Beach Hotel in Sousse but we went in a number of hotels and they all had signs saying no drinks were to be brought into the hotel felt like a criminal sneaking it in,just writing a review now should put it on tomorrow.
